Watched it last night. I found it sooo good. It’s clear that Reeves was inspired by Scorcese and Fincher in the making of this movie. Pattinson was so good, and so was Dano. If WB campaign Dano, I could see a nomination for him nxt year..

Doubt and American Hustle
February 15, 2022 at 4:13 pm #1204804119“Places, Please” with Meryl Streep will be released next year?
It seems a comeback to the “serious” movies for Streep
February 8, 2022 at 7:13 am #1204787631If excessive campaigning pissed the voters off, then Nicole and Kristen would’ve been snubbed because they were doing it, too.
they were not saying things like “PATRIZIA WAS WITH ME”, “a bunch of flies followed me and I felt it was Patrizia”, or screaming in front of the pleace where Gucci was murdered and being COMPLETELY over the top tho. it must have turned everyone off. Academy likes campaingning, but they hate when it’s crazy (and Hudson is also an example this year)
February 8, 2022 at 7:06 am #1204787559With DLU hitting screenplay, editing and picture, I coud see a path where it wins BP. the only thing is that the movie has no suppor from the actors branch, so I think The Power of the Dog will win BP and director.
February 3, 2022 at 8:33 am #1204770598we are, maybe, underestimating DLU at the Oscars
it could be a dark horse for BP, especially if it lands screenplay/editing noms on tuesday. If Di Caprio is in it could be even more competitive.
it’s widely seen, popular among audiences and with a important subject matter
January 24, 2022 at 1:57 am #1204746208West Side Story is not the sole greatest movie musical of all time but it’s certainly up there with Cabaret, Chicago and Moulin Rouge!
All that Jazz would like a word
January 16, 2022 at 9:02 am #1204731723She was nominated just 3 years ago (as a namecheck) and then she was in the race at some point for every single movie she’s been in as a namecheck first, just in case her and/or the movie worked until they didn’t: Don’t Look Up, The Prom, Let them All Talk, Mary Poppins, Little Women and The Laundromat. And it’s a tired narrative, yes, but it happened. And will keep happening.
In all fairness she should’ve gotten a nom for Let Them All Talk. It was easily her best work in the last 7 years.
January 16, 2022 at 8:37 am #1204731688And I agree Hunter should be winning the Oscar
January 16, 2022 at 8:34 am #1204731674If the three witches from Macbeth were played by Meryl Streep, she’d already be locked for the nomination.
As much as I love Streep I don’t think she would play the witches as brilliant as Kathryn. Streep is, arguably, the greatest but there are some roles other just play better than her and that’s ok. So, for that I think she could get a nom but with another type of performance (and probably inferior to Kathryn’s)
January 16, 2022 at 8:12 am #1204731657My count for the BP nominees: The power of the dog: (9) Picture, director, actor, sup. actor, sup. actress, adapted screenplay, editing, cinematography and score. Licorice pizza: (6) Picture, director, actress, sup. actor, original screenplay and editing. Belfast: (9) Picture, sup. actress, sup. actor, original screenplay, cinematography, editing, production design, song and sound. West Side Story: (9) picture, director, sup. Dune: (10) Picture, director, cinematography, editing, costume, makeup, production design, score, sound and visuel effects. CODA: (3) Picture, Sup.Actor and adapted screenplay. DLU is probably getting a screenplay nom, and maybe editing and score too
