Why is no one talking about The French Dispatch? It’s the best Wes Anderson film yet, and he deserves a director and picture nod at least. And almost any of the actors could end up in a supporting spot, especially Jeffrey Wright, Adrien Brody, or Benicio Del Toro. Everyone in it (and everyone is in it) is great. But somehow it hasn’t been in the conversation at all. The script is brilliant, the production design absurdly good, and the music charming. Is it that there is just too much greatness going on that pundits swipe it aside because they don’t want to think about which performance to honor? Or is Anderson really just not loved by the film community?
