brutal for best music video plsssJuly 31, 2021 at 10:13 am #1204373507
i don’t know if anyone else felt this way, as well, but i enjoyed HTE as an album MUCH more than i enjoyed the singles. it kinda seems like an album with very few standalone tracks (the exception being the title track) but one that is extremely succinct as a whole. after listening to it, i enjoyed the singles a little more.July 13, 2021 at 10:07 am #1204342888
comedy categories were such a hell storm i’m so mad about it lol … glad The Flight Attendant at least got Perez in though. but pen15 missing actress is cruel.
at least drama was a nice bag of surprises 🙂July 12, 2021 at 12:02 pm #1204340247
Lydia West dropping down killed 99% of the already slim chance Keeley had.
It would need to It’s a Sin to perform like the frontrunner for her to get in right now IMO
in a perfect world, It’s a Sin would be forecasted to perform like a front runner.July 12, 2021 at 9:25 am #1204339964
okay, but if I’m not mistaken, wasn’t WWAFAWDWG similarly not as chart successful before its release? wasn’t its highest peaking single “Bury A Friend” at no. 14, before “Bad Guy” was released on the same day of the album and ultimately went no. 1?
I personally do not like Billie’s new songs. they feel too unconventional, but not enjoyably so—and her vocals really get on my nerves, as I feel like they sound crackly in a way. “NDA” I thought was alright, but nothing has come close to “my future” yet. maybe the album will be different, but for me, her first album got so tired so quickly, aside from a few songs. I guess we’ll just have to see lol. if the Recording Academy puts her in just on the basis of her as a perennial favorite, though, I’m gonna be so mad.July 12, 2021 at 9:08 am #1204339924
The biggest shock would be Winslet or The Crown missing. I’m not remotely invested in anything else. I just looked at the drama noms and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a worse group of shows in the Great Television era. Picking among them was like chewing styrofoam.
I have Olivia Colman missing. I don’t know why, she probably won’t, but what’s Emmy season without some excitement lolJuly 10, 2021 at 10:00 pm #1204338370
He feels like a frontrunner by default, but if not him, who? Bill Camp could win if they go full on The Queen’s Gambit and would probably be more like a career award.
I don’t see anyone with passion to win in this category, so it will probably be between the two of them
I feel like after the nominations come out, someone super obscure or on the bubble of a nomination is going to end up on the shortlist and slowly build up the momentum from the nomination into a win. Boyega does not seem anywhere near as sure as he used to be, but Camp feels like an uninspired pick.
Maybe if Small Axe has a good amount of nominations support, Boyega can bounce back to being a sure winner, a lá Regina King post-Watchman-nominations.July 10, 2021 at 12:51 am #1204337220
Kind of getting a vision that Bareilles makes it in and then Goldsberry doesn’t. That would be interesting.
Also, I’ve been binging Search Party and DAMN is that show underrated. Alia Shawkat and Cole Escola are FANTASTIC. Manifesting Shawkat in Lead Actress.July 8, 2021 at 11:06 pm #1204335681
troye sivan released a full version of his interlude “could cry just thinkin about you” and i’m so glad he did because i needed something to chase the other music released today lol. wish he was more in the loop and mainstream for the grammys, as he is more than deserving, but alas—no.July 7, 2021 at 11:33 pm #1204333949
The fact We Are Who We Are will likely get nothing is appalling when it’s easily in the top 2/3 of drama series, drama actors, drama actresses and drama supporting actresses eligible. It deserves to win directing even more so than my precious The Crown.
I’m predicting it for TCA and then series, actor, and supp actress (although Jordan Kristine Seamon is deserving of actress, as well) at the Emmys. Likely not going to happen, but maybe we can manifest it lol.July 7, 2021 at 10:34 pm #1204333898
just had a Raven vision of IMDY missing at the Emmys a la GG and the RAGE I feltJuly 7, 2021 at 10:24 pm #1204333894
maybe it’s just me and bias, but Planet Her gets better every time i listen. there’s always a new song or melody that i didn’t quite catch before, and i find myself enjoying it more and more. i don’t know if this matters at all, but imo it’s gonna get at least something.July 6, 2021 at 11:01 pm #1204332103
hopedicting It’s a Sin at TCA and then Emmys. maybe I’m insane, but I see it getting into series, actor, & supporting actress in some scenario of events.July 6, 2021 at 10:55 pm #1204332101
Six Feet Under Season 4 was so soapy, but DAMN. I just finished it two weeks ago, and Michael C. Hall’s performance is stuck with me. The fact that HE wasn’t even nominated that season baffles me. But “That’s My Dog” could net that season its nomination on its own.
Lost did deserve the win, though. No one can change my mind.July 6, 2021 at 12:16 pm #1204331217
Lorde is a non-factor. She wouldn’t have been nominated for AOTY last go around if it wasn’t for the secret Blue Ribbon Panel and now that’s gone. In order for Lorde to score noms she would need a hit.
the lack of a Blue Ribbon Panel will be so revealing this year for the future. especially on the topic of if Lorde, Jazmine, or St. Vincent score noms.
