Does anyone have the running order?January 18, 2020 at 5:56 pm #1203291327
I’m hoping that it’s not Hollywood, not just because I want Parasite to win but because I think the Best Picture race would be quite boring if Hollywood were to win again here. Give me some chaoosss.January 18, 2020 at 2:30 pm #1203291116
Apparently the PGA Awards aren’t televised, does anyone have a good idea of when the main award will be announced?January 14, 2020 at 1:38 am #1203283270
Hollywood’s snub for Editing is very strange considering that it is supposed to win Best Picture. A reminder that Birdman (a one-take movie) was the only time a Best Picture winner wasn’t also nominated for Editing since 1980. That is almost 40 years of correlation.
But what is also interesting is that 0 movies over the last decade have won Picture without any acting nominations, and only 2 over the past 30 years. What doesn’t have any acting nominations? Parasite AND 1917. And those two movies that won without acting nominations both won Screenplay, which neither of Parasite or 1917 will.
Unless a dark horse wins, some historic trends will be broken this year.January 12, 2020 at 7:15 pm #1203278309
As a side note: Critic’s Choice are shocking accurate in predicting Costume Design: 9 out of 10 times so far this decade. I think Dolemite is my Name is our new frontrunner there. On the other hand: they’re awful at predicting Makeup and Hairstyling: only 4 times this decade. So Bombshell may have actually been hurt by it’s win tonight.
I agree on Costume Design, I told myself after picking The Favourite rather than Black Panther for the Oscar last year that I would never go against the Critics’ Choice again on Costume Design or Production Design, they have been pretty much spot on every time.
I wouldn’t say that Bombshell has been hurt by its win though, it’s a very obvious front-runner like Vice last year and there was no reason for anything else to win. It should easily be everyone’s number one choice.January 12, 2020 at 6:57 pm #1203278216
Really???? The CRITICS chose OUATIH over Parasite??? Come on.
