    This could be “moot,” as you put it, but the NATAS rules state (or at least did) that up to 8 nominees in a category was fine in the case of a tie, 5 is the norm, and 3 is the absolute minimum. Case in point when Erika Slezak won her last Lead Actress emmy against 7 others. If you’d like to do your own thing, that’s fine, but at least there is a point of reference.
