I think Lupita is the only shot at an upset. It would be nice solidarity from the industry for her to win. It would be a threat to Zellweger’s oscar chances.
I think if anyone upsets Zellweger it’ll be Johansson.
– She’s a double-sag nominee, she’s been working in hollywood since she was 9yo.
– Worked with so many actors over the years
– Has recognisability and familiarity with AFTRA too with her Marvel connections.January 15, 2020 at 2:28 am #1203285441

Greta is winning adapted as I predicted back in November. Tarantino will in original, although I wouldn’t count out Marriage Story as a spoiler to win. Especially it’ll be hard to tell what the writers branch prefer as Tarantino wasn’t eligible at WGAJanuary 13, 2020 at 9:47 pm #1203283095
All very worthy, but personally. Her performances in Brooklyn and Little Women are the bestJanuary 13, 2020 at 9:46 pm #1203283093
Ok, y’all gonna torch me for this, but I thought we all could laugh at our own expense… TARGET DEMOGRAPHICS FOR EACH CONTENDER ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD: “The White Establishment”, upper-class, Brad Pitt fangirls, conservatives, give no Fs about political correctness, had a problem with last 30 mins of Parasite. PARASITE: Young, POC, LGBTs, women, novelists, liberals, strong dislike for OUATIH. THE IRISHMAN: Boomers, film aficionados, Catholics JOKER: ADHDs, alcoholics/pot-users, incels, gamers, scientists, vastly male Couldn’t think of any for 1917, any ideas?
well lets be real, this year was the year of dad movies:
ouatih, the irishman, ford v ferrari, joker, 1917, jojo rabbitJanuary 10, 2020 at 9:47 pm #1203274960
The fact that if Awkwafina gets an Oscar nomination, she’ll be the first asian women JUST to be nominated for best actress.January 10, 2020 at 4:34 pm #1203274662
slots 1-4 are 99% locked
the 5th spot could go to Phillips, Watiti or Gerwig. At this point, I think Spielberg’s backing, influence over the academy and mentorship of Gerwig coupled with the backlash of lack of female representation at the guild nominations will help her sneak in.January 7, 2020 at 4:58 am #1203267970
Portrait of a Lady on Fire or The Lighthouse in cinematography. Perhaps, Song Kang Ho or Zhao Shuzhen in a supporting category.January 6, 2020 at 10:49 pm #1203267243
Final Predictions in the major categories before the BAFTA’s begin Best Actor
Antonio Banderas-Pain and Glory
Adam Driver-Marriage Story
Leonardo DiCaprio-Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Interesting I think best actor will be the most unexpected because there are so many brits in contention and bafta love to give them noms.
We’ve got potential spots for Bale, Pryce, Mackay, Egerton even Roman from Jojo.
So that leaves us with a very crowded category that could snub DiCaprio or DeNiro even Banderas. I’m having a tough time trying to figure out this BAFTA 5 lineup
