it baffles me that people keep bringing up nicki. they hate her, she’s not happening. on top of that, her output hasn’t been good in years (including ‘super freaky girl’ which is completely carried by the sample)

nicki is a laughable choice clearly designed as an act of fan service. she has very few notable music videos

you have been on this site for about 3 decades and still think that when somebody points out a chart achievement / failure they’re implying that the voters will care. when will it click that NOBODY is saying that.
30 not being on the billboard 200 goes against adele because it shows her / the album’s lack of relevancy

renaissance isn’t trying to be a lyrical masterpiece. lyrics do not define the quality of an album and the lyrics aren’t important at all in the context. renaissance is far better and more ambitious than 30 and deserves to beat it (though i doubt it will)
co-writes are relevant though. it’s true that voters will strongly prefer 30 and its minim…[Read more]

Daniel Glaister replied to the topic Do you think Liam Payne is the best member of 1D? in the forum Music 1 month, 1 week ago
liam was definitely not the best member of 1D and his solo music is probably the worst
but i do believe he was originally the centerpiece of the band due to his pre-existing relationship with simon cowell & his experience as a performer. he had a leadership role within the group at the beginning of the group, but that faded over time as the…[Read more]

billie as she brought something different and inventive to the music industry. olivia is nothing we haven’t seen before
probably an unpopular opinion but i prefer HTE to sour by quite some way and wish it had won some categories this year

Daniel Glaister replied to the topic Most Deserving Album For 2023 in the forum Music 1 month, 4 weeks ago
jack harlow and ed sheeran are duds, but the others are all really solid albums.
adele probably impressed me the most, but she has won in the GF so many times already and it would be nice to see kendrick finally win AOTY. harry is probably the album i listen to most

pop/r&b act was so random last year
ed sheeran, adele, dua lipa… griff, joy crookes?
there is literally no pattern (except the fact that r&b was basically ignored)

mimi in pop act seems reasonable and she’s probably a sure thing for SOTY with her current hit if they keep the ridiculous number of nominations they had last year

drake won’t submit but that’s actually a shame because there’s a slight chance that this album is actually a bit different to the mundane crap he’s been releasing since nice for what. supposedly it’s dance style
i don’t trust him at all though

if lizzo’s newest song represents the general quality of her album, she can kiss the AOTY nomination goodbye. i was feeling very pleased with myself for predicting about damn time as a hit & potential contender before it went viral, then she embarrasses me like this???
(luckily there are several good snippets floatimg about so hopefully grrrrls o…[Read more]

Daniel Glaister replied to the topic Beyoncé – RENAISSANCE in the forum Music 1 month, 4 weeks ago
to suggest that an artist as already successful and rich as beyoncé would spend 6 years trying to make an album with the primary intention of winning a silly trophy is absurd

Daniel Glaister replied to the topic Grammys 2023 Predictions (Part 4) in the forum Music 1 month, 4 weeks ago
OK – this beyoncé announcement is the first time this period i’m thinking adele may not win. one too many competitors, i think
using adele’s previous success as evidence that she will win again doesn’t make sense for 2 main reasons:
1. neither 21 nor 25 faced so many massive albums from massive artists
2. 21 and 25 were both far more releva…[Read more]

about damn time would be #7 on spotify US without the new future album.
you all spoke far too soon when dismissing her the other week (as i said at the time)
i’m still hesistant to predict her anywhere but the album campaign clearly isn’t going to bomb the way people were making out
