BPVA: Plastic Hearts – Miley Cyrus No one seems to be predicting her to get in. I think she will. I think she’s getting underestimated.
i understand why you would think so but most people are guessing there’ll be a lot of competition in this category this period which will force her out. she’s already not getting in above ariana, taylor or justin
ReplyFebruary 25, 2021 at 2:23 am #1204060304i don’t know if DL will make 10 weeks but 7 is already pretty huge
ReplyFebruary 24, 2021 at 10:54 am #1204059046i’d personally never bet on ava max, there’s a consensus that she’s painfully unoriginal, but noah cyrus literally made it in this year so there’s no point acting as if ava definitely can’t
ReplyFebruary 24, 2021 at 9:20 am #1204058792GET REAL! Ava max is not happening (again) She’s payola-driven and she doesn’t have a big hit or commercial breakthrough in the US yet. Also she has submitted two consecutive years and has been ignored
she did have a breakthrough. sweet but pyscho went top 10 and it genuinely wasn’t just a radio hit like kings & queens. the problem is that it happened 2+ years ago
ReplyFebruary 23, 2021 at 9:42 am #1204056771lol i made a whole list of my aoty predictions / rankings. enjoy <3 future nostalgia – lowkey could’ve been done by any other artist imo – chart hits // if we weren’t in a pandemic this would be playing at every club – i think what’s your pleasure was better – her only big genre support is pop and dance and those can be divided to other artists hollywoods bleeding – i hadn’t heard a single song from the album before listening to it because it was nominated – i didn’t even know he had a new album to be honest – he just like isn’t that relevant imo folklore – it was written in quarantine – taylor’s most acclaimed album – beautiful lyrics!!!! – chart success n stuff – would be taylor’s 3rd album of the year idunno if this will influence anyone also evermore might influence people?? – i do not like the production personally chilombo – ok go off this album was nice – but it was way too long – also i feel like it wasn’t that memorable idk – p*$$y fairy!! – most r&b votes will go towards it black pumas deluxe – i actually enjoyed this album – its just a deluxe version of an old album lol – good for them i guess – i do enjoy their music though and i’m glad i got exposed to it everyday life – literally why is coldplay up for aoty – this is their sole nomination – WHY – i hate this djesse volume 3 – women in music part iii > djesse volume 3 – dude has never lost a grammy before (but they’re mostly composition ones so like…) – i understand that jacob is talented but damn i literally cannot listen to his music rip – the cover of this album is ugly – he’s not the dark horse why are you calling him that women in music part iii – has diverse genre support (rock, pop, country, production, alternative) – will take majority of alternative and rock votes (some to taylor probably or black pumas) and then will take a solid amount from other categories as well – relatable lyrics to 2020 (u needed a$$, i know alone, i ain’t dead (yet), i get sad) – most acclaimed album out of all the nominees – the name of the album sounds like it would win like it just has a good name – first album nominated for aoty by a female rock group conclusion: haim and taylor are the only actual serious competitors in my opinion but i think haim has the edge to win despite what yall are saying in this forum !!! also side note: i feel like with the amount of non mainstream albums that were nominated, it’s unlikely one of the mainstream albums will win. feels a bit too predictable idk. sorry this was so long lmfao
just because you love haim and their album doesn’t mean they’re a frontrunner? they don’t have enough genre support, clearly not everyone sees it how you see it. i wouldn’t be shocked if they win but they’re not ahead of dua and jacob, it’s just obvious
ReplyFebruary 23, 2021 at 4:06 am #1204056036How exactly did Future Nostalgia define 2020?
how did it not? she literally lead the biggest trend in pop music for the whole year
ReplyFebruary 22, 2021 at 10:43 am #1204054652i think a lot of us did try to have unconventional picks but we got them wrong… it doesn’t really get more unconventional than jhené aiko, black pumas, coldplay, jacob collier and haim all in the same lineup
ReplyFebruary 21, 2021 at 2:07 pm #1204053233i have ariana slightly ahead because she’s milking positions a bit more than evermore, however if folklore underperforms in march and taylor maintains relevance throughout the year into the voting period with the re-recordings then i’d have her ahead of ariana for sure
February 21, 2021 at 2:05 pm #1204053229ariana is the most likely there i think, closely followed by taylor then megan a bit behind. megan’s album is huge and well received with (already grammy nominated and possibly soon to be grammy winning) hits but the anti-rap bias is strong in AOTY as we know, they even ignored roddy last year
February 20, 2021 at 12:08 pm #1204052025People are really thinking that Swift will win a third AOTY? God sake look who won it three times: Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon. Are we really considering to put Swift in that level? Pathetic. If, IF, someone is winning that award for a third time in this century it will be Adele.
what kind of logic is this supposed to be? you can’t say she’s not going to win just because you don’t think she’s similar to the other artists with 3 wins. you can only decide by looking at this specific lineup and determining whether she can win against these other nominees. no voter is going to be turned off from voting her because they prefer stevie wonder.
ReplyFebruary 20, 2021 at 5:40 am #1204051544most to least likely for upset in my opinion:
1. SOTY – songs like i can’t breathe and black parade scream upset to me. we do have 3 main contenders as mentioned before but the race feels quite open
2. AOTY – purely because anyone who wins except taylor would be an upset (dua is debatable). jacob collier has a great chance and he would be a major upset by the public’s standards
3. ROTY – i feel quite good about dua winning and if not her then savage or billie. but i feel as if all the nominees except black pumas actually could potentially win
4. BNA – i don’t see why there would be an upset to megan pheobe or doja. perhaps ingrid, but it just doesn’t feel likely in the slightest
ReplyFebruary 20, 2021 at 5:34 am #1204051540pheobe had a nice campaign but megan literally released an acclaimed album just before voting begun and had hits throughout the voting period… how was pheobe’s campaign better than this?
and megan literally held the #1 AND #2 spots on the year end song lists
ReplyFebruary 19, 2021 at 11:29 am #1204050224i loveee the deluxe tracks. the short lengths really annoy me but at least we have them
1. worst behaviour
2. test drive
3 . someone like u
4. 34+35 remix
5. main thing
ReplyFebruary 19, 2021 at 9:34 am #1204050018jacob collier can certainly happen, the fact he was nominated in the first place despite barely any sales should tell you that
ReplyFebruary 19, 2021 at 9:31 am #1204050009this is about riskIEST predictions, that doesn’t mean they even have to be risky at all
mine is probably miranda cleaning up country but i’ll probably change song to maren
