Daniel Montgomery is still outraged at the Emmys for snubbing "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" all those years. That travesty of justice was a significant factor that drove his interest in showbiz awards; who does the industry uphold as its best, and why? Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Montgomery earned a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in film studies from the University at Albany. He's a self-published writer of short fiction in addition to his awards and reality TV prognostication at Gold Derby. And he'll never let you forget that he correctly predicted 23 out of 24 Oscar categories the year "Birdman" won Best Picture.

I’ve been adding candidates since yesterday. The most important one I’ve gotten multiple requests for I just wanted to point out here:
I added Ari Aster (“Hereditary”) for Best Director yesterday as soon as someone pointed out he was missing. He’s present and accounted for!
I thought I’d add a new thread. As much as possible I like to give people the opportunity to vote for the contenders they really love in our Gold Derby Awards, so as usual I’ll be fielding requests for additions, but only if you follow certain guidelines:
1. Send your requests to me in a private message. Requests made in this thread…[Read more]
Feel free to keep any eligible contenders coming. With some of the big hitters out (Camila, Cardi, Post Malone) and 8 slots to fill, I could see this category being rife with left-field contenders.
Sorry for the delay, everyone! I’ll be hopefully adding Best New Artist today. Anyone I’m missing?
Chloe x Halle

Before making big changes to the predictions center, I wanted to double confirm some of NewCat’s info, which I have now been able to do.
I’ve removed a number of candidates that weren’t submitted. I’ll be making additions as well, and I’m also working on Best New Artist, which I will hopefully have added to the predictions center before the week is over.
Hi all, I’m preparing to add Record and Song of the Year to the Grammys predictions center. This is always a little trickier than determining Album of the Year contenders since many artists will have multiple songs they can enter. Here’s the list I’ve been working on, trying to cast as wide a net as possible since the field will be expanded to 8…[Read more]
I looked back and couldn’t see a thread for this (let me know if I missed it). But I thought it would be fun to speculate about what actress should play the new slayer (whether it’s a “Buffy” reboot or a brand new slayer as has been suggested by Monica Owusu-Breen). There are so many black actresses I can think of off the top of my head who would…[Read more]
I’m thinking about a story covering the biggest VMA upsets in history. I can think of a couple off the top of my head: “Lady Marmalade” over “Weapon of Choice,” Taylor Swift over Beyonce (can’t remember if that was an upset, per se, but it sure upset Kanye, so I think it’s worth including). What were some other jaw-droppers?
Sorry for the delay, everybody. I’ve gotten a number of requests and have added the following candidates to the Gold Derby TV Awards
The End of the Fucking World
You’re the Worst
Aya Cash, You’re the Worst
Comedy Supporting Actor
Dan Levy, Schitt’s Creek
Comedy Guest Actress
Tovah Feldshuh, Crazy…[Read more]
I wish her the best of luck. I’ve been hearing great things about her, but I’ve only ever seen her Emmy reels for “GH” and frankly I didn’t think they were good at all. Was she better than that the rest of the time?
Sorry for chiming in so late, guys.
I’ll be considering additions to the Gold Derby Awards if you contact me via private message. I won’t add every candidate for everyone who asks, but I’ll do my best. A few important guidelines:
1) Requests made in this thread will not be considered, only requests by private message to me.
2) Request no more…[Read more]
