You might as well watch the other nominees that year lol. SJWs are the worst Lord.
Lol trust me, Kalinda. I wouldn’t have made the comment if I hadn’t seen all of the nominees performances from that year. I legitimately thought Whoopi gave the better performance. Not to mention, it was her debut performance! Just exceptional!!October 27, 2020 at 6:39 am #1203804980
But the fat suit isn’t her fault… Just a reminder: A week after Ma Rainey’s wrapped, she had to go back to playing Annalise. She couldn’t put on all this weight and lose it in a week.
But I found it convincing anyway.
So did I, Luca. I also don’t know how it can be determined that the fat suit didn’t look “convincing” in less than 3 minutes of footage. It looked perfectly legit to me, but to each of their own . Secondly, the woman professed to having gotten up to 200 lbs of her own weight, and they used the fat suit, to suit the rest of the body. It’s no secret that Ma Rainey tipped the scale around 300 lbs, so yes she had help in the way of a suit. But, it’s a transformation anyway you slice it.
The lipsynch argument is quite a reach at this point as many performers have in motion pictures, and her backup people have been very savvy and smart to place emphasis on the fact that though Viola did contribute vocals, she did have assistance, and they have made no hesitation about admitting that. Bottom line, her campaign has already started, and they’re not throwing any fake punches!
With that being said, has ANYONE heard of any rumblings about when the damn movie will screen for critics?! LolOctober 24, 2020 at 8:43 am #1203800052
The beauty about Viola’s near likely forthcoming nomination for Best Actress, let alone possible win, is it’s a win/win for her regardless. If she is nominated, she will have broken her own record she currently shares with Octavia in being the first and only African American actress to be nominated for an Academy Award, more than 3 times. In her case, if nominated, two for supporting, and 2 for lead. That in itself would be an astonishing achievement! Also, now that her day job is over, she has more free time to complete some of these pending projects of hers. Some of them that are likely to land her right back into the Oscar conversation. In essence, she’s in a great position, win or lose, come this Oscar season.October 23, 2020 at 9:18 am #1203798414
Really? Do you know which ones?
Will be interesting to see how some respond to Ma Rainey and Hillbilly Elegy. Especially the latter because I saw one publications’ prediction whether they said they are unsure where in their top 10 to put Amy…
Lol that was going to be my question as well. Luca, any idea which ones? Since they have so many in contention, already. I hope it’s Ma Rainey’s & Hillbilly Elegy.October 23, 2020 at 6:24 am #1203798104
Interesting stats…October 22, 2020 at 6:58 pm #1203797444
Amanda Seyfried is getting some very impressive recognition. But, I think Glenn’s narrative alone will take her to victory.
