Good News would’ve been a sure thing had Megan pushed the album further. Coming off 3 GRAMMYs & a few hit collaborations, won’t be enough when the race is becoming tighter. If Kendrick drops, it’s game over.
August 29, 2021 at 2:28 pm #1204423211Kanye is a walking contradiction. One minute he’s an anti-Bush pro-Black rapper. Then he’s a pro-life Trump supporter who believes slavery was a “choice”. Now he’s a born again Christian back to selling his soul to associate himself with the likes of a homophobe, DaBaby, & accused rapist, Marilyn Manson.
Will the real Kanye please stand up? Mental illness is very real but let’s not pretend Mr. West isn’t a stunt queen who pulls these tricks for attention. As someone from Chicago, I know people who saw the show/listening event & said it was T-R-A-S-H. All hype & no substance.

August 29, 2021 at 12:55 pm #1204423072Some youtuber saw The Father in March a year before the Oscars and he said Sir Anthony Hopkins was going to win the Oscar, many critics on Twitter said he had no competition, Same with Joaquin when they drop the trailer, they even hack his Wikipedia page saying he was going to win for Joker, the same with Malek and Redmayne.
Those are anecdotal examples though. Not a general consensus. When DDL was announced to portray Abraham Lincoln in a Steven Spielberg film, it was a wrap. No one could deny he was winning that Oscar. I don’t feel the same energy with Cumberbatch. Especially when Smith & Washington have equally baity roles/narratives too.

ReplyAugust 29, 2021 at 12:35 pm #1204423016I mean, I remember when Eddie Redmayne was the favorite since the beginning, same with Malek, Joaquin and Sir Anthony, I don’t know if it was the same with Leo, many have even predicted these winners 10 months before the Oscars.
I don’t think any of those performances were deemed as undeniable winners before the race began. Hopkins, for example, wasn’t perceived as a threat until the season actually started.

August 29, 2021 at 12:04 pm #1204422958Many people other years declared their winners since the beginning of the season and have been accurate with their predictions, I personally think this is Cumberbatch year.
Cumberbatch, Smith, and Washington all have baity roles. This isn’t a Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln situation where it’s undeniable from the start. Any of these men can win.
