Maria Bakalova is fricking outstanding in Borat 2. Several broad slapstick moments but also many many tender subtle sweet moments of acting and a couple of genuine oscar clip moments.
Maybe the globes bite
I don’t know if this opinion is unpopular, but I just watched Christopher Guest’s Best in Show and Fred Willard absolutely deserved an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor.
Just an incredible ratio of screen time to laughs, maybe the comedic equivalent of Jack Nicholson in For a Few Good Men

Amy Adams stars in Disenchanted written by Rachel Bloom and directed by Rian Johnson, turns the Disney princess genre entirely on its head in the way only Johnson can and Adams sings a showstopping emotionally deep and funny number at the climax written only in the way Bloom can.
I know Disenchanted was already written, but this is what I would want
hats-off replied to the topic What are your top 3 series of the past decade? (2010-2020) in the forum Television 2 months, 1 week ago
Limited myself to series that completely aired in the last decade and that I used to get giddy in excitement for new episodes/seasons
Not sure which thread this belongs in, but I guess here is the most fitting. The Happy Endings quarantine episode “And the Pandemmy goes to…” was hysterical and my personal favorite of the onslew of quarantine episodes that were coming out. Sharply written and not…[Read more]

I’ll try to be brief because I always think I sound pretentious when I defend this movie. But I really did love it. I felt like it tried to stand for something rather than just be a souless entertaining blockbuster. The way it took where the Force Awakens left off and introduced real stakes while paying incredible homage to Empire Strikes Back
I am excited! This is some of the most fun I have on this site.
Could What we do in the Shadows be added to best ensemble? I legitimately believe it has a strong chance of being nominated, especially with its support on the forums
Supporting wouldnt be fraud, but lead is a fair characterization especially considering the finale and his part in “A God Walks into Abar.”
But, yea, its borderline and probably more fitting in supporting, but so was Carrie Coon in the Leftovers
hats-off replied to the topic What are you binge-watching to get through the pandemic and why? in the forum Television 4 months, 1 week ago
Just finished binge watching Lodge 49, and it was some of the most uplifting, soul enriching television I’ve ever seen. Exactly what I needed at the moment.
How I wish the Emmys would watch it
“On the Run” is one of the best comedy episodes of the season and a favorite of both everyone I know who watches the show and all the critics whom I follow. I can see it being nominated despite multiple submissions if the writers actually watch the show, in the similar vain of how Better Call Saul got “Five-O” and “Chicanery” nominated since write…[Read more]

“The Long Offseason” – Brockmire [series finale]
Even though it probably won’t pay-off, I may have no choice but to predict Hank Azaria for Brockmire. For one, it’s Hank Azaria and he is at the top of the ballet and he gives a tour de force performance every week. But on the other hand, that much has been true for the same performance for the last three years and hasnt gotten him in sooo
This show is surprising me in how much I care about the characters. I’m very disappointed in how at least the critics have been treating it. The tone expertly mixes in real stakes with such wry humor.
The first part of the finale is a powerhouse performance by Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard delivered a stronger one in episode 5.
I hope this i…[Read more]
Lupita Nyong’o needs to be in performer of the decade, but great stuff and I appreciate the effort that clearly went into it.
I will only have one FYC and that is for
Best Supporting Actress:
Tilda Swinton, Snowpiercer
No other performance has made my heart cheer, hate, and crawl. She was fully realized and spectacularly indescribable
The finale was moreso an incredibly directed episode of television than a well written one. Seriously, between this episode and the latest episode of Single Parents, Mike Schur has shown himself to be a fantastic television director. He should direct more of episodes of his shows.
