DramaKing replied to the topic Days of Our Lives shuts down production: Is it cancelled? in the forum Daytime TV 1 week ago
Chandler Massey just tweeted that Days is not being cancelled. They are pausing production because they are so far ahead of schedule and it will save money.
I agree the show is a mess right now. It’s so disappointing. Robin Strasser was actually very good and felt very ‘Vivian’ in her scenes with Will and Sonny and particularly in her scenes with Sarah. I just think her first few weeks were all over the place and over the top, even for that character.
For me, a big problem is the character of…[Read more]
I have to agree. Everything is off about Strasser’s Vivian; her make-up, her clothing, her hair and her line delivery. Most can be blamed on the writing, but the performance is not right for Vivian.
DramaKing replied to the topic Greatest Soap Actresses of All Time: Who belongs on the list? in the forum Daytime TV 2 months, 2 weeks ago
There are quite a few names I would take off the list. Some of those listed are not great actresses. I would definitely add Ellen Wheeler (won Emmys for both AW and AMC), Anne Heche – iconic as Vicki/Marly on AW and Victoria Wyndham as Rachel on AW. She had the difficult task of replacing Robin Strasser but she make the character of Rachel her…[Read more]
I do remember Anna being more of a schemer back in the 80’s. Anna and Calliope were both used for comic relief, but Anna definitely had a dark side. I had totally forgotten about her working with EJ in the baby Sydney kidnapping! That was such a twist.
I would just love to know what she submitted to get nominated and win an Emmy against such…[Read more]
DramaKing replied to the topic Meryl Streep: How many of her 21 Oscar nominations were undeserved? I say five. in the forum Movies 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Florence Foster Jenkins
Into The Woods
The Iron Lady
One True Thing
Music of the Heart
My favorite nominations:
The Deer Hunter
Kramer vs. Kramer
I have enjoyed having Leann Hunley back on Days of our Lives these past few weeks, however she always seems to give slightly (or sometimes more than slightly) over the top performances. He quivering voice, he facial expressions, her angry outbursts…
I started thinking about her Emmy win for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1986. I find…[Read more]
DramaKing replied to the topic Had Kathleen Turner been nominated for Romancing the Stone in 1984 in the forum Movies 5 months, 1 week ago
Lange was offered both Places in the Heart and The River, she chose to develop and produce a story about current day farmers. I love her performance in Country, but I often wonder how she would have done with Places in the Heart? Would she have won her 2nd Oscar so early?
I like Kathleen Turner more in Romancing the Stone than I do in her Oscar…[Read more]
I just rewatched this film last week. While I’m not a big fan of the movie overall, I do love Juliette Binchoche’s performance. My question is, why was she campaigned in Supporting? Honestly, it feels like she has more screen time than Fiennes and Scott-Thomas and Dafoe. She has all of her scenes caring for the patient and her own love story…[Read more]
I think the interesting question is, what would have happened if there was no Frances? Would she still have been nominated for Best Supporting Actress or would she possibly have been nominated for Best Actress for Tootsie like she was at the BAFTAS. It’s kind of a shame that her win and her performance for this film are always discussed in…[Read more]
Could it be Alicia Copola and Robin Christopher?
I absolutely love this thread. Another World is by far my favorite series, daytime or prime time. It just reminds me of my childhood and teen years. So many great actors and actresses. The writing was superb. It still doesn’t seem right that Victoria Wyndham never won Lead Actress. She…[Read more]
