Billboard just reported that she actually did know about the whole thing and was offered to buy her masters, which just hurts her even more. It’s sad, I was starting to like Taylor for her activism. Plus, Scooter Braun and Scott Brochetta probably have many friends in the industry. I don’t think she’ll be shut out or anything like that, but her case keeps getting worst. That said, I’m done with Scooter. He’s behaviour shouldn’t be excused anyways.
As to what I gather to understand she didn’t know about the deal until today, and the thing that she’s not okay with is with Scooter to have her albums and profit of her music.
That billboard article has little credibility, Swift’s manager exposed that the article is lying, she did not know about the deal with Scooter, what she did know is that BMLG was gonna be sold and that’s the reason she walked away and to pursue a better deal and own her masters from now on.
With the matter of her masters, she was not able to own her masters with BMLG because the record deal they were having stopped her from owning it all at once, she had to work and earn her masters by putting album after album. And they probably wouldn’t want to sell or give them to her because 80 percent of BMLG profits come from Swifts masters, so if she had them Borchetta couldn’t sell BMLG for that much.
But I think Scooter did buy it out of spite, look at his instagram stories he’s acting like he owns Taylor Swift.
What I do not know about is if she can profit from her music. Because people are making it look that way but I’m not really sure about that.

So apparently Me will jump to #2 and be blocked by Old Town Road. That bitch THOUGHT!
If it gets better at streaming it can jump at #1 nothing is certain. It has the radio play, the sales and the unpaid streaming numbers but since billboard relies heavily in spotify and apple music it just needs more exposure there so it can become #1April 29, 2019 at 7:12 pm #1202873235
the delusion saying the biggest artist of the year can go empty handed keep dreaming she’ll win many grammy’s this year it’s HER year not only thank u next is the best selling album but it’s the most acclaimed
It’s not the most acclaimed is #9 on metacritic. She can win but is not a lock, if Taylor Swift steps up her game and comes with a song like Blank Space as her second single Ariana Grande can kiss her Grammys in pop genre goodbye. As of general field she probably be nominated but her only strong categories are RoTY and AoTY and if RoTY is packed like last year she won’t win, AoTY is probably not hers since I think two or three pop albums will be nominated and the rest are other genres (like R&B) she won’t win. She is in probably but not a lock. Saying she will win may Grammys is a reach and a half.April 28, 2019 at 7:59 pm #1202871162
ariana she consistently dominated the charts with every album she released this decade every album had many top10 hits all of the artists mentioned had their flop eras but ariana didn’t have one yet
You know is the whole decade right? Ariana just became huge and popular, while Adele, Drake, Swift, Gaga and Rihana have been present and had hits the whole decade.
Swift and Drake are frontrunners I’ll think they’ll be #1 & #2 and it depends if Drake releases or notApril 25, 2019 at 9:23 pm #1202867199
It sounds like a demo from a Dreamworks movie… I cannot believe this is the same girl who wrote “All Too Well”, “Red” and the entire ‘Speak Now’ album by herself. I-
I don’t think this song is supposed to sound or be written like that, she said it’s supposed to be uplifting and feel good. Just like Shake it Off of course not on that level but I think some of the songs are gonna be really well written just not this song because it’s not supposed to be that kind of songApril 25, 2019 at 9:17 pm #1202867175
The video was really good. The song was good too in my opinion is a good choice for lead single, I’m now intrigued how the album is gonna sound.April 25, 2019 at 6:16 pm #1202866974
Taylor Swift + new single = DISAPPOINTMENT!
Don’t you have better things to do than being a slob?April 25, 2019 at 6:11 pm #1202866966
Can someone explain why you don’t like Brendon in the song, I mean I Don’t Wanna Live Forever didn’t underperformed it peaked at #2 but I don’t get the disappointment. Yeah maybe the lead as a collab is a really odd choice but Panic! Has great songs and it could work out really well.
And perhaps Brendon isn’t in the song he is a feature in the album IDK! (Edit: He is in the song, it is confirmed)
I think we should wait and listen before we judgeApril 23, 2019 at 10:03 pm #1202864095
Billie is the one who sounds different and seems like the one artist that can break through.
But Ariana has high chances since her record is really big but she needs to stay relevant the whole year.April 21, 2019 at 7:32 pm #1202861268
Do you think any of her singles have a shot at SOTY/ROTY? I’m sure she’ll be nominated, but imo the singles aren’t as strong as the album cuts.
She should submit 7 Rings in RoTY and TUN in SoTY because even if it’s not great lyrically it’s way better in that aspect than 7 Rings and Break Up.
Even though I’m curious about what’s gonna happen with Republic since Ariana and Taylor are now in the same label, I wonder who they will push more.April 19, 2019 at 9:59 pm #1202859556
Adele said she’s learning choreography and trying on new wigs for the ‘30’ era. Most of the production is done by Metro Boomin.
I thought she was done with naming her albums like her age
Preach!!!! What’s everyone’s favorite song from Adele? Mine is Set Fire To The Rain!!! This is really off topic but I’m interested!
I really like Water under the bridge and Can’t let go (It’s from the target deluxe version of 25)April 19, 2019 at 9:50 pm #1202859545
I think it can stand a chance of going #1 after the release or the week after. Republic’s promotion for the song is great, the billboards all over don’t have her name which will make people curious and go to the website but I think that as of right now everyone knows it’s her, the other thing is changing her covers of albums for the date in spotify which will make people anticipate the song.
Next thing they probably will promote more after the release and that includes a video and probably a performance at Billboard’s award ceremony.
And for going #1 she doesn’t necessarily need huge streaming numbers, if the song sells well, which probably will because her fanbase is crazy and they actually buy the song, and a streaming week like the one for Look, she can be #1.
The real deal is if she can maintain the spot after it’s release. Which leads us to a MV and performances. And with more promotion, which apparently Republic is great at.April 17, 2019 at 5:54 pm #1202857201
Reputation and Homecoming are almost locks for music films one is about the highest grossing tour in US history and the other one is about the first black woman headlining Coachella. Both are good movies. The win depends on who sweeps in nomination and actually gets in or a music film about a veteran come our and knocks them both out.
As of right now I think the Grammys should focus on less mainstream music.
ASIB has a good shot at being nominated, not a lock. Why? Because it’s still a whole body of work, and shallow was one song. The other songs didn’t pull through like the others and the difference with the Black Panther soundtrack is that ASIB isn’t attached to a cultural moment, and the movie underperformed and unlike Black Panther, ASIB was probably made for Oscars, BP probably wasn’t.
TUN is the pop album of the bunch that probably will get nominated. It has the reviews it just needs longevity. She should push Thank You, Next in Song and Record of the year, want to admit or not 7 Rings isn’t material for Song nor Record even if it performed well in the charts.
Billie’s album is probably not getting in, I only see her in BNA and her genre probably alternative if they don’t push her in pop like Beck last year.
Coachella helps more Billie than Ariana since Ariana’s performance was kinda lame, she tried to pull a Beyonce and failed miserably.
Halsey probably will pull a nomination in Record or Song and her genre, pop too. The song has the longevity if it maintains can be a lock for Record.
Hozier, The Lumineers, The 1975, Maggie Roger’s and Co. Probably will be relegated to their genres with one or two of them being the Carlile the year and actually getting nominations. That’s if they get nominations.
Maren Morris isn’t Kacey Musgraves. I see her getting moms in country with a far away shot at AOTY but never a lock as of right now.
Solange can pull through in AOTYamd her genre since it’s acclaimed but that’s it.
Record of the year will probably will be like last year all hits so… not much to add.
None of the songs that are popular that have been coming during eligibility period are well written or are material for Song of the year, only Without Me seems the most “deserving” one. So I think this will be packed with less popular songs.
We have to wait for Swift to actually release the song to see of it’s actually gonna maintain the hype to be nominated unless her second single is the blank space of this album and should push that one. Her album is probably come out late July or late August so it so we need to see the probability of it being nominated. Panel probably blocked Swift last year to save themselves and not give her the third win. If the song pulls through and conserves the hype she could be the frontrunner and get the Record and Song trophies she’s overdue for.
Gaga will probably release after the eligibility period so she won’t block ASIB.
Watch out for the Game of Thrones soundtrack because the show massive and one of the most acclaimed.
Beyonce dropping an album right now seems like she is gonna push it for Grammy season. I wanna see how the year develop in terms of music so I can rule the album out of AOTY race but with 8 slots to fill seems likely that she gets in. I wish she releases something else before September so she can’t get blocked by Adele who is probably sweeping 2021.
Sam Smith seems likely only in pop duo. But he failed to get pop solo for a top 10 hit and isn’t 2015 popular.
Conclusion: weakest year, and if Swift pulls through probably the frontrunner in everything she gets nominated.April 14, 2019 at 4:15 pm #1202852876
no. ed didn’t miss because there weren’t enough spots. kacey is not mediocre.
Kacey won in a line up were most of the nominees were the same genre her only competition was Carlile and she didn’t because pop voters probably chose Kacey for having a crossover album with pop. Let’s be real Post Malone isn’t pop, if one pop album was nominated instead of 6 R&B/Rap/Urban nominees Kacey wouldn’t have won. Hell even a Rock album would’ve won.January 16, 2019 at 7:48 pm #1202737055
LETS BE REAL!!! Everyone listed in this thread has been snubbed a time or two but I don’t understand why no one has mention Adele! That woman has done so much for the music industry and the Recording Academy just won’t reward her! Like seriously you can’t just ignore someone who has created that big of an impact! Here’s to hoping they actually give her an award or two for her next album!
I don’t know if this is joke but Adele has a nearly perfect grammy record
