I’d say it’s because it’s an album released this eligiblity period with several big hits by an artist they’ve recently celebrated with 3 wins. Leftover good will could translate into more  GF noms including AOTY. But I think she’ll fall down after some albums (Silk Sonic, Billie, Kendrick) are released.

Is Evermore really going to make it into the final 8 for AOTY though? Speak Now couldn’t after Fearless won. I know that was when there was a lineup of 5 but I don’t see it happening until it does.

Speak Now sounds pretty similar to Fearless the same way Evermore is Folklore’s sister and Speak Now was pretty well-liked garnering a few nominations. Evermore could perform the same as Speak Now plus a SOTY nom for Willow.

Maybe Taylor campaigns for Evermore but after this year’s ceremony, she’s probably not trying that again. I see the BRP blocking it in the case that they don’t want a consecutive Taylor win.

I have it taking Original Screenplay, British Film, and Casting. It could realistically only win 1 but a Casting win could be similar to Joker last year. And they could “award” the casting of Carey since she was snubbed by the jury and she’s the face of the film. Not sure what the circumstances were last year or if it’s a solid argument.

I keep seeing how Carey could be boosted if PYW performs well at the BAFTAs. In what categories would it have to win in order for this to be true? And does it need to win Best Picture in order to “perform well?”

I’m growing a disconnect with this race that I’m predicting Mulligan until the end (partly due to her being my favorite out of the bunch). It hurts seeing her take tumble after tumble but I’m glad PYW will be winning at least one Oscar (original screenplay).

I would not be disappointed with a Davis win. I f**king love her! I enjoy anything that she’s in.

Day winning would make her an even bigger overnight sensation that’ll bring her more acting offers (if she wants to continue acting) and create buzz for her new music.
