Really hope Lindsay books another good production too, I’m curious about how she’d do. I think coming back with these Hallmark romcoms (but with Netflix backing) wasn’t a bad idea because she still gets top billing in a more soft way (in terms of reception) and gets to show studios she’s reliable/professional but she needs to start looking for other stuff – even if just supporting – if she wants her career to go somewhere soon.
I think she can have a “true comeback” / land a great role even when she’s much older as she will always have that narrative attached to her name anyway, but she’s still so young, it’d be nice to see her make up for “lost time” with more diverse stuff.

ReplyJanuary 27, 2023 at 8:59 am #1205270508They arent rescinding anything. That would start a horrible precedent.
How would it be horrible or even a precedent if it’s verified the campaign literally broke their own rules? 💀
January 27, 2023 at 7:21 am #1205270342So far Puck News is the only outlet that talked about the alleged investigation. What if it’s not even true? Lmao
Puck is usually reliable with their industry exclusives but it is entirely possible it is not as big of a deal as the article might make it seem.
January 26, 2023 at 8:52 am #1205268513Finally, Lindsay Lushan was her usual awful self in that Netflix Christmas movie she did
Why would they nominate what is essentially a Hallmark Christmas romcom? If that’s the case then plenty others should’ve been nominated already too if we’re suddenly paying attention to those types of productions… the movie didn’t even have that bad of a reception overall, and Lindsay herself received praise from critics, so a nomination wouldn’t even make sense. There’s SO many bigger projects and names they could’ve gone after and didn’t lol (did studios/publicists make calls? are they avoiding the big names for some reason?) Lindsay in particular has already been subjected to such awful treatment when she was clearly struggling in her life and everyone (including them) kicked her while she was down even more for no reason, she isn’t bothering anyone so let’s leave her alone.
This “organization” should just end already, it’s mean-spirited and more pointless/irrelevant than ever in the industry’s current landscape. The fact this is the second consecutive year where they have to issue a public apology and retract a nomination says it all – just stupid, vile and disgusting.
ReplyJanuary 25, 2023 at 8:24 am #1205266274I think that Jennifer Lawrence should have take the spot of either Ana De Armas, Michelle Williams or Andrea Riseborough. They nominate Bryan so they clearly saw the film. She should have been the surprise nominee, not Andrea.
Please read the room.
January 24, 2023 at 5:18 pm #1205265110Then 4/10 are POC. The argument still stands.
No it doesn’t, this thread/argument is about Best Actress.
January 24, 2023 at 4:11 pm #1205264957They’re already eating her up in the comments and she’s not ready I fear it’s best she stays quiet
January 24, 2023 at 10:43 am #1205263809What exactly is Ke Huy Quan coming back from? The Goonies or Indiana Jones? Like seriously, was Ke Huy Quan sexually assaulted and then banned by the industry? The industry OWES Fraser, they don’t owe shit to Quan. And besides i think you have your categories mixed up.
I think it’s a bit dramatic to say Fraser was “banned”. His bigger productions as a lead flopped in the late 00s, so obviously studios wouldn’t view him as bankable + he was getting older and had a harder time to find another standout project… hardly a unique story especially for an actor like he was mostly known for.

ReplyJanuary 21, 2023 at 6:54 am #1205256036Neve was in Scream 5 for what 15 minutes? She was barely a factor and the movie was still really fun and entertaining. I’m okay with her sitting this one out. She’ll come back for Scream 10. I disagree our survivors from 5 aren’t an interesting group. I’m with you on Gale though. I don’t think I’ve cared for her since the 3rd installment.
Well there’s a reason why that movie’s my least fave so far, and those were literally the only minutes where it (sort of) felt something was at stake (even the “tension” leading up to Dewey’s death felt underwhelming), plus Neve was still front and center the whole marketing campaign precisely to make people invested. I also wouldn’t phrase her situation like she’s “sitting this one out” which might make it seem like that was the plan when even the directors recently said she had a big role and had to do major changes after the studio decided to lowball the star of the franchise (and lol @ Scream 10).
ReplyJanuary 21, 2023 at 5:27 am #1205255962Not very excited for this without Neve honestly, Sidney is the heart of these movies and none of the new characters in Scream 5 were half as interesting or charming at all, I literally don’t find myself rooting for any of them. I don’t even think I care about Gale anymore with Dewey gone (and Sidney being MIA), maybe Kirby depending on what they do with the character (hopefully they don’t make her a killer…)
