What Oscar snubs and surprises did you call?
Not exactly calling it but I had a huge gut feeling that JLo wouldn’t make it since October but IGabe Guarin
I knew it was going to miss after it was snubbed at both ACE and BAFTA. Like, nobody has

What came 2nd for Best Picture, revised
But how about a hot take for the sake of it: if my belief that Bong Joon-Ho was gonna win Director nJohn Berchmans
It had like a 50% on Rotten Tomatoes for a while after the early reviews from TIFF, before the reviews improved dramatically after that. Early critics were much more divided

What Oscar snubs and surprises do you wish you had called?
I wish I'd called Bong's director win. I even predicted it for Best Picture, but with all the splitsGabe Guarin

Would Traffic have won Best Picture under a preferential ballot?
I don't think so. BoRhap won all their nominations with the exception of Best Picture. I suspect SodJohn Berchmans
[quote quote=1203351250]Recent films to win every Oscar they were nominated for *except* Best Picture include BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, SELMA and THE BLIND SIDE. Before that, TRAFFIC was the first film to accomplish this since JAWS, which itself was the fir

Green Book: What if Mahershala was Lead and Viggo Supporting?
Viggo's not winning over the fantastic Richard E. Grant.Babygirl
[quote quote=1203348609] You wish. And besides, you bring up the critics’ dominance for Grant, but that alone does not guarantee you an Oscar win. Not everyone can be a Regina King. I don’t have to wish cause it’s true. All the attent

What came second in Best Picture
By the way, I took a lot of what I said from a comment I saw from John Berchmans, to give credit wheGabe Guarin
For whatever it’s worth, my general stance comes with the belief that even if Parasite somehow didn’t win Best Picture, Bong Joon-Ho still would’ve won Director over Sam Mendes.

What if the 92nd Oscar ceremony was in March?
If the Oscar ceremony was delayed until March, how much do you think this woPJ Edwards
If the Oscar ceremony was delayed until March, how much do you think this would’ve affected the Oscar race? I’m not sure that much would’ve changed, but there would likely have been at least a few upsets below-the-lines,

92nd Oscars if there were more than 5 nominees for every category
The shorts in my list still only have 5 nominees. Are there any great shorts I missed? Please let meGabe Guarin
I’m probably gonna do more edits. I can see how this could become a headache and three quarters for the Academy if they tried this.

What if The Pianist had won Best Picture over Chicago?
Weinstein wasn't a big supporter of Chicago. He thought The Hours and Gangs of New York were his OscRobertPius
I think it’s very telling there was no background music for his win. I feel like there’d be a lot of conflicting feelings over the Pianist winning. On one hand, I doubt many would argue it didn’t deserve to win. Hell, t

Would Hillary Swank have won over Annette Bening in 2019?
Hillary would still probably winAtypical
It's an entirely new world now, and there would be clear opposition to a cis straight woman playing a trans man in 2019. Enough for "Boys Don't Cry" not to be made at all? Possible. Or maybe make the film with a more representative lead? It wouldn't

Which pre-2009 movies would win Best Picture under the preferential ballot?
Probably Saving Private Ryan over Shakespeare in Love and Fellowship of the Ring over A Beautiful MiBenjamin Nunis
Because The Shawshank Redemption had no violence or a gay rape scene either. More implied than shown, though. Completely agree that no way Pulp Fiction would ever have won on a preferential ballot. It took awhile for Tarantino or his masterpiece to r
