Well.. I think Kristen not winning gg might not be a bad thing for her chances. Something tells me Oscars will feel the need to go the other way, especially this year. And what comes to bafta, I think it could go to a third party, someone who’s not even in the conversation. We’ll see..December 24, 2021 at 4:02 am #1204676962
Spencer not well received by the general audience and the industry and Kristen facing hurdles snatching the BAFTA win (similar to the defeat of the Crown) are her biggest problems. She only has the regional support, no trifeca. Sweeping regionals are usually indicative of winning so it puts her on top as of now, but predictors (not stans) should not confuse correlation with causality and cherry pick the stats that work in her favor, the factors working against her should also be taken into account as well. She’s far from winning at this early stage.
and no one is closer than her, take that into account as well then. I see a lot of you trying so hard to diminish her front runner status. Like give the girl her moment for fuck’s sake. She’s been underestimated for such a long time, the least we can do now is acknowledge her accomplishments. A win is totally another conversation. Anyone could win this yearDecember 23, 2021 at 2:50 pm #1204676156
I pushed the ignore button on that freeguy guy a long time ago but I keep seeing nonsense that he’s saying cause y’all are quoting it. Stop paying attention.December 16, 2021 at 12:37 pm #1204660743
Oh please. The Coppa Volpi doesn’t exist to serve a purpose for the Oscars. It is one of the most prestigious acting awards out there and it served its purpose by celebrating one of the best performances of the year. Stop conflating it with these low-rent critics awards.
I didn’t say it wasn’t prestigious or important. Honestly, I think one of the main reasons Cruz won it this year is that it had been one of the few main awards she hadn’t won before. And it was due, she’s a veteran actress who’s been on the scene much longer than Stewart, and had two films in competition where she gave well received performances.
But, we’re talking abt Oscar chances here. And, I repeat myself, that win did nothing in relation her chances at the OscarsDecember 16, 2021 at 11:11 am #1204660557
People don’t understand that Kristen winning volpi is one thing and Cruz winning it is totally another. It was practically wasted on Cruz, it didn’t give her anything in relation to Oscars. And if Kristen won it, plus critics support we’re seeing now, and the fact she’s playing a British high profile historical figure, an icon, and universal acclaim she gained for her performance, all this would cement her name on that gold thingy as of now.December 16, 2021 at 8:50 am #1204660084
I’d vote for myself lolDecember 16, 2021 at 4:26 am #1204659507
I feel like one of Kidman and Chastain will miss to free a spot for one of the younger and promising contenders in a bigger movie overall. There’re a lot of similarities in their roles for them both to make it in. Kristen’s nomination is pretty secured. And Gaga is solid in 5th spot, cause the academy will want those views, but I don’t see them awarding her for HOG. And everyone seems so sure of Colman, that it seems impossible to be doubtful about her.December 15, 2021 at 4:05 pm #1204658696
Y’all are fucking kidding me? Who dresses up for a video chat? I’d feel incredibly dumb to have a whole team do my makeup and having to wear a fancy dress just to sit there in your own hotel room and talk through a tiny screen. I mean, is there nothing else to talk abt? Y’all are acting like she’s showed up at the Oscars already dressed in a t-shirt, jeans and in a pair of conversesDecember 15, 2021 at 9:24 am #1204657722
People don’t know what else to discredit Kristen with anymore. They’re now coming for what she’s wearingDecember 3, 2021 at 10:27 am #1204623555
Guess, Gaga’s winning now, lolDecember 3, 2021 at 6:53 am #1204622545
So if Kristen loses again today, are her fans going to say “Well, NYFCC doesn’t usually go for Oscar picks. She’s still the frontrunner” ☠️
so, are you going to keep posting comments every awards day asking what her fans would do/say if she loses it? At this point you seem more focused on her ups and downs than her own fans. At least she has something to lose unlike some other actresses..November 29, 2021 at 4:26 pm #1204613394
Well, I’ve been able to watch Spencer, finally. And to be honest it left me cold. It’s very artsy indeed, every frame’s a painting. Words are said are very loud though in a whisper. I don’t understand the complaints of some about music. I thought it fit the mood and complimented the film in the best way. And as people were saying it’s a slow film, you really need to sit down, settle in one position and be alone with it. That’s why it wasn’t a hit in theaters. Still, it keeps you watching and I definitely need another watch. I feel like I haven’t been able to digest it properly. Cause it stays with you like a lump in your throat.
As someone who loves Kristen it was really hard for me to see past her. You have to understand. I’ve seen so many movies of her, and I feel like I know her when I see her. I remember trying to watch Seberg, and in the very first scene we see Kristen walking away as Seberg and I could definitely tell it was Kristen Stewart walk, not how Seberg would be walking. And that’s the reason I haven’t watched the rest of the movie.
Here, I could still see her at some rare moments, but she wasn’t herself in this film for sure. It’s like you look once and then you literally need to look again cause you thought you just saw Diana, but it’s Kristen the actress. For me, this portrayal wasn’t about copying Diana, it felt more like I was seeing Diana’s ghost still roaming around the halls of the estate. She’s like the ghost that’s been trapped here unable to rest and doesn’t know she’s dead.
I really love movies that make you think. And if you think about it, this one was intended to leave you cold. Cause that’s how we feel about death.
this is what would I call cinema.November 27, 2021 at 12:56 pm #1204609551
not THIS going viral 💀 https://twitter.com/bloomthisway/status/1464170294910668800?s=21
the whole movie’s going viral on Twitter at this point. Not that I’m complaining, it’s still a good promoNovember 26, 2021 at 7:12 am #1204607589
I don’t see how JLaw is going to get nominated this year. She was definitely robbed when she didn’t get a nomination for mother!
I double that. I really couldn’t stand her and haven’t even seen silver linings playbook because of it. Like the moment she appears on the scream I just got irritated. But in Mother she really won me over, she made me feel sympathetic towards her character, to feel what her character must be feeling. And it’s funny that she got so many nominations in such a short period of time for some basic roles and not for this one.
In a way I think it has some similarities to Stewart’s Diana. Both characters really make you feel their emotions through the screen and they’re not pleasant, it makes you uncomfortable, unease and you just boil inside from your own helplessness. Just bravoNot now
