The category placement of Snook & Cox in lead was so weird for S. 1, so I hope the roles are better distributed this season.June 22, 2019 at 7:34 pm #1202948300
I don’t think there’s enough interest in This Is Us for Susan Kelechi Watson to make it in after not really being on voters’ radars for the previous two seasons. Chrissy Metz got snubbed last season, yes, but the category was stacked, and she is a previous nominee, so I think she is getting in over Susan Kelechi Watson.
Are you saying that you think she would theoretically get in before Watson would or that you are predicting her to get in?June 20, 2019 at 7:35 pm #1202946249
If anything I feel Ozark might overperform with McTeer and Mullan as well. Alan Arkin seems the most vulnerable out of all of the Netflix SAG contenders.
Arkin being snubbed would be literally devastating for me. I think he gave one of the greatest performances of the year. I just cannot fathom the category without him…June 20, 2019 at 7:31 pm #1202946241
Jennifer Morrison (Once Upon a Time, The Report) just got cast in This Is Us in a “significant recurring guest role.”
Another nomination to add to TIU’s mountain of potential acting noms?June 20, 2019 at 7:25 pm #1202946237
Also, with respect to OUATIH, I know we’re all predicting it across the board, but some of the critics I follow and respect (for instance Matt Neglia and his crew at NBP) seem to think it’s only going to land in screenplay and maybe a few techs. They obviously have their sources, but I’m just curious about the apprehension because on paper the film looks incredible.
I’m wondering if any of you have any information on how the movie actually is and whether our predictions make sense. Is it just QT’s response about Margot that is causing the doubt? IMO, what he said and how he acted wasn’t even bad. Even if people were deeply offended somehow, I seriously doubt that’s the reason voters would tank it. Is the movie just not that great? Would love to hear from someone who knows something I don’t.
This would be a shocking turn of events given the extreme buzz around the film…June 20, 2019 at 7:10 pm #1202946225
Just came back from this and I thought it was excellent! Mindy Kaling continues to impress as one of the biggest comedic talents of her generation, while Emma Thompson delivers an astonishing performance.
Grade : A
You didn’t think Thompson was the lead?June 18, 2019 at 2:29 pm #1202943341
I am starting to think that TIU could get 10 acting noms (Actorx2, Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting ActressX2, Guest Actorx3, Guest Actress). I know that’s an unpopular thought but its just a hunch.June 18, 2019 at 2:23 pm #1202943335
I have a gut feeling that This Is Us will still make Drama SeriesJune 18, 2019 at 2:13 pm #1202943319
Not only is Toy Story 4 an animated movie, it is a sequel to a film that was nominated for Best Picture. I feel like even Endgame has a better chance of getting into Best PictureJune 18, 2019 at 2:08 pm #1202943309
I must say that FFJ being her 20th nomination was so upsetting as it is not a great performance
