It didn’t. That’s just reaching out for something that doesn’t exist
Sure, whatever you say. I guess 5 people are still talking about it on Twitter.
ReplyMay 3, 2022 at 6:47 am #1204940634Not some people still fuming at TPOTD for some reason. Not its fault CODA completely evaporated from film conversation after a few days 👀
ReplyApril 12, 2022 at 5:18 am #1204914125Honestly, Neal should stop talking. She’s making everything so much worse. She said this about Eve and I quote ‘her washing off everything that had happened in the past four seasons and being able to begin again’ …truly gruesome way to put it. It comes off as ‘let her wash off the queer stench and get back to her great heteronormative life’. They took everything and everyone from Eve and made her witness and experience the loss of her loved ones several times throughout the show. And Neal still has the audacity to come and tell us she’ll have this amazing life and that her scream is meant to signify rebirth and triumph.
Also, it feels weird saying their relationship is just an obsession and that the fans have been making more out of it when the executive producer herself, Sally Woodward Gentle, described it as a love story at heart. That’s what the writer of the books intended as well. Making this to be the fandom’s fault feels kind of low and reductive.
ReplyApril 12, 2022 at 2:46 am #1204914003They didnt have the balls to nominate mid to high brow tentpoles like the last two Mission Impossible, Casino Royale and Skyfall at ATL categories (Black Panther, Dune, LOTR and to an extent TDK and Logan are exceptions, not rules),. Let alone nominate actual low brow stuffs like Fast and Furious franchise
ReplyApril 11, 2022 at 1:58 pm #1204913045The score next week:
Can it go lower than zero? Just found out that Kayleigh Llewellyn, the only gay writer in the room, opposed this ending and thought it was a bad idea. Talk about not listening to the voice that actually mattered.
April 10, 2022 at 9:41 am #1204911148Yeah, Oh and Comer had about the same screentime in season 2 and Emerald actually concentrated on their relationship and gave less attention to the Twelve and other characters. She had them working together and getting closer. It’s season 3 that screwed Oh over by focusing more on Villanelle and separating these two until the last episode.
ReplyApril 10, 2022 at 6:42 am #1204910952I can’t believe that out of all the possible ways to end this they went with the most overused and lazy one. What’s up with these writers and tragic endings? Do they think it’s poetic or original? It’s been done so many times that I literally rolled my eyes when they shot Villanelle at the end. You would think they learned something after GOT… give us something else other than death and being miserable for once.
March 31, 2022 at 12:40 pm #1204891736Yeah, I get the whole repressed gay angle, but I never bought Cumberbatch as an American. It felt like a play. Even the masturbation scene was unconvincing, and just…not it.
It’s not necessarily the repressed gay angle, hun. Some of you totally missed the metatextual element of having British Benedict Cumberbatch play the archetypal cowboy. Phil is basically a nerd who graduated summa cum laude from Yale with a degree in classics. His entire macho/rugged persona is performative. That’s why it works brilliantly.
ReplyMarch 31, 2022 at 12:30 pm #1204891706Will Smith was great in King Richard, and was the second best in the best actor category after Andrew Garfield. He is in the top half of Best Actor winners this century, and was much better than Benedict Cumberbatch whose performance never really moved me, and felt like cowboy drag.
That was the whole point. Cosplaying as a cowboy to hide his true self and personality.
ReplyMarch 28, 2022 at 8:06 am #1204885612What a fucking shitshow. Toxic masculinity is everywhere, fuck you Will Smith pulling the “I did it because I was provoked, I did it for love” which is the calling card of domestic abusers everywhere.
Mhm…
The Power Of The Dog’s dissection of toxic masculinity feels extra topical right now. #Oscars
