It’s always pretty funny to me how the Actress thread has 2839498 parts and this one barely 12 pagesJune 21, 2022 at 11:56 am #1204991851
I like Bey’s song! It’s fun and it’s summer, which is always a good combo! Plus, it’s Beyonce. I think this will perform well. Not spectacular, but good. Still too soon to say anything else, we all saw how the public came to like About Damn Time after a while…June 19, 2022 at 3:30 am #1204989647
I think more niche artists like Orville Peck could make the lineup if they have a stable genre support, rather than a more ‘mainstream’ act that appeals to everyone and no one (Gayle). I can see Lucius making it if eligible.June 10, 2022 at 1:33 pm #1204979607
Big Thief deserve so much. Some of their best songs ever are on this album.June 10, 2022 at 4:29 am #1204978744
Columbia with Adele, Harry and Beyonce in the same eligibility period…. these artists do not care lmao 🙂June 9, 2022 at 2:08 am #1204976969
Do you think Brandi will submit ‘You and Me on the Rock’ in Pop? It does not sound like pop. I liked her album (not her best, but solid) and I think it would deserve an AOTY nomination.June 9, 2022 at 2:06 am #1204976967
as long as Ed and Justin don’t get anything I am happyJune 6, 2022 at 11:20 pm #1204974638
Anyways, I agree with the user that said that Harry’s strategy right now is to fight overexposure by staying away from the spotlight. His streams might drop a bit but it will help in the long term. Tour starts soon in Glasgow, and I bet the music video for Late Night Talking is ready to go.June 6, 2022 at 11:17 pm #1204974636
I think the problem of this site is that people become aggressive so easily. I was finding the discussion extremely interesting but I do have to say that the aggressive tone (from multiple users) puts me off. I think I find it cringe most of all. I think this is one reason why there hasn’t been much nuanced discussion on here, everyone seems just ready to pounce on the first user who makes a mistake.June 6, 2022 at 12:09 am #1204973700
I think both being in the same label should in fact keep Harry wake at night. The label can easily weaken Harry’s chances to set up Adele!
I was literally thinking about this when Harry’s album leaked a MONTH prior the release, but I hope this is not the case.. Harry has a v good relationship with Columbia’s heads (Rob Stringer) but he might have some ”enemies” within it too, what do we know.
I found your posts about this v interesting, I think the whole ‘Imperial era’ thing is fascinating. The only thing I am a bit uncertain about is that the promo is actually veeeeery low-key, even for Harry standards. FL was promoted non-stop for two weeks at release and he did a bunch of magazine spreads and talk shows, then covid-19 came in so he had to leave it alone but still… This era has been pretty mellow in comparison: one magazine (Better Homes & Gardens, LMAO), two festivals in the space of three months (Coachella, Big Weekend), 2 concerts (one live streamed), BBC live lounge/Stern/Zane Lowe/some 5 minutes pre-recorded ”interviews” for random radios.
Personally, I think he is playing the long game, and that magazine spreads/more important appearances will happen in later months. Or maybe he just doesn’t want to do a lot of ‘in your face’ promo? How does this fit with the Imperial era thing in your opinion? His tour starts next week so he won’t have that much time for general promo I think. It could also be that he and his label are afraid of overexposure, with his movies also coming in a few months. He’ll likely have to promote those around too, so maybe they are putting off magazines/interviews for that?June 1, 2022 at 9:23 am #1204969501
At the end of the day, this forum is about predictions not discussing your favorite songs/albums etc (although it can be that too if someone wants to share). With Harry I think the situation can be summed up like this: Adele is and will always be in front of him in all nominations until the ceremony, where an upset could happen somewhere but it is difficult to predict right now. His album has barely been out for a week, Fine Line one week old was relatively unknown to the gp so we know very well how everything can change depending on the roll out in the next months. I personally think the quality is there and the starting point was great (except the leak lol), if he can maintain the hype then maybe later in the season I’ll reconsider whether one of Adele’s crowns could fall for him.June 1, 2022 at 9:18 am #1204969493
I think people need to chill out and let the conversation flow naturally. If you want to post stats, post them, don’t wait for others to post them. It is not a surprise Harry is not big on this forum, he’s never been, and that is okay.. I prefer ppl not talking about him at all then feeling forced to say something and do so in bad faith. I am the one who opened the thread about him on here, and everyone is welcome there to discuss anything they want! As another user said, there is not much to say in general. The album is smashing despite being leaked a month in advance, it did good with critics, a lot of songs are in the top 10 both global and US; we still have to see if it will hold for the next few months. Personally, I am expecting the Late Night Talking music video one of these weeks.May 29, 2022 at 2:58 am #1204966551
My personal opinion is that Dua Lipa needs to choose her projects better. She has always relied on her image and the people she works with rather than a special sound/voice, so she should be more selective to keep her ‘brand’ distinctive.May 27, 2022 at 4:18 am #1204965123
I would be very happy to see Wet Leg and Orville Peck in BNA but I don’t think they are happening right now.Not now
