Having watched Ford vs Ferrari now twice in theatres.
I think it’s safe to say it’s better than Once Upon A Time In Hollywood as a movie.
James Mangold who’s direction is BEST part about Ford vs Ferrari deserves to be a BD nominee ahead of Quentin Tarantino for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
I love Winding Refn and I actually love all of his movies with Drive being one of my all time favorite but he has said it himself that violence is his fetish.
I think that is visible in “Only God Forgives” especially when Chang tortures a person.
Lars Von Trier is a masterful director but lately he has been focusing more on disturbing his…[Read more]
Quentin Tarantino is unnecessarily scrutinized for violence in movies because his movies are seen on such wide range.Violence in his movies is necessary to plot most of the times.
Guys like Lars Von Trier and Nicolas Winding Refn actually fetishize violence and violence in their movies is over the top and seems as they have made to look “Hey how…[Read more]
These are locks already..You’ll agree with me when you see The Irishman yourself..He is getting in for sure.
You are right but this time the competition is too tough and he is co-lead with Damon who gives equal integral performance. As @thatnerdgreg said Bale is more enjoyable but it never feels as Damon is being overshadowed.
You are making right points except not considering De Niro as lock.

I was told exactly same by one of my friend in US who has seen it.
He said De Niro gave an absolute masterclass in subtlety.
He’ll obviously get nominated but won’t win as he is already a 2 time acting winner and only 3 men have 3 acting Oscars so that’s rare feat.
I have been watching these 2 1900s born Giants from past 2 months as my Film History teacher suggested.
My opinion is exactly same as you. Both are great but Olivier sometimes wasn’t able to differentiate between Stage and Film even at his best.
