“I cried. I cried like a big dumb homo.” (I actually cried twice.)
Damn it all that was so good. As Liz says when she meets her kids, “That seems about right.” That’s exactly how I feel about this final season. Everything feels right. Everyone’s getting great closure and I can’t beleive I’ll miss and feel for all these characters that can be so self obsessed. This season the show maintained (or elevated) its quick fire wit and jokes on tops of jokes while bring an emotional component like the show has never had. Liz’s wedding, Colleen, Kenneth getting the job, TGS quitting, ect. This season has been great.
Liz and Jack didn’t even share a scene in this episode after the cold open. They’re the emotional center of the show and they weren’t even together, yet I cried twice during the episode… I can only image what they are going do do those two next week… I’m going to be so sad I’ll have to watch it by myself.
Modern Family and Parks has been strong, but this show needs to pick up it’s final emmy. It’s been perfect. I can’t even narrow it down to 6 episodes…
Tape A: “Mozel Tov Dummies”
“My Whole Life is Thunder”Tape B: “Game Over”
“A Goon’s Deed in A Weary World”Tape C: Finale. (2 episodes). Unless the finale sucks then they could easily put in “Govenor Dunston”, “Florida”, “Stride of Pride” or “Beginning of the End”.
They got some milage out of that Homonym TV Show.
ReplyNovember 29, 2012 at 10:17 pm #258301When they made the decision to have Jack Donaghy play Harriet Tubman, in my mind, 30 Rock won it’s 4th Emmy.
But seriously how amazing was this episode?
So many great returns: Dennis. Dr. Spaceman. Saul Rosenbear.
– New Dennis business idea. Oh Beeper King.
– “My Boyfriend was supposed to pick me up after that shoot. So I called him and was like OJ, where are you. And he goes oh wait, you’re alive? Then who did I kill?”
– I love how excited Megan gets for St. Patrick’s Day.
– “Mmm I see you over there you little gum drop! Dont hide from Charice.”
– Tux transformation.
– The corn cob.
– Wedding Bitches.
– You’ve almost put me through med school.
– That shot of Tracy Brushing his teeth. Say what you want about Mr. Jordan but he knows comedy.
– “In Arizona 2 grand gets me a castle and a bag of meth.”
– I love Jack/Jenna plots. They have been the best scene partners since Season 1 when he wsa grilling her about her age. I am so sad that we might not get many more of them.
– Deli? Save it for the honeymoon.
– Jeff Richomd is a genius… when young Liz rolls here eyes… perfect sound. If Tracey Wigfield was a bigger “name” she would win for this. Hopefully she can at least be nominated.
MVPs: Tina Fey. Not a bad tape at all.
Grade: A.
I suppose some critics will say this was to agressive and weird for a Wedding episdoe. But I love how this show has blossomed in it’s final season. It knows what it is and what it wants to be and it’s going to put jokes on top of jokes on top of jokes even if its not how an episode should progress.
Love it.
ReplyOctober 12, 2012 at 2:46 pm #258265I’m sorry but that was the
best episode they’be done in years. Gov. Dunston was a great satire of
Tina Fey/Sarah Palin. How brilliant. I’m so glad they made it
another 4 years so they could do this epsiode. I loved how ballenced this
episode was. I could have used more connectededness in the plots.“You look like someone’s been slowly
poisoning Sally Field.”
Jimmy Fallon’s real voice.
Cooter Burger! “Ow.”
“Cooter. This is a puffy frog with googly eyes.”
“He was born in Kenya… we can’t really say
anthing about that.”
“Balls. Balls. Balls.
Balls. Balls. Balls. Balls. Balls.
Balls. Balls. “
Bryan Cranson and Catherine O’Hara was great but
I could easily use a lot more of them. I loved how much Kenneth hated
Ron. Pushing him on the couch… I loved how Jenna just shot in frame
when she saw a CD.
“NBC.com had over 100 hits today!”
“Just like BP did when they heroically
tried to lubricate the Gulf of Mexico.”
“Do you remember that kid who bullied you?
Well I ate that goat.” Brilliant.
That Staples montage. Tina Fey is
amazing.”Written and Directed by Robert Carlock?!
Give him two emmys. How perfect that this aired on the night of the
Vice Pres Debates 🙂I selfishly could use more Cranston and Broderick but I’m glad this show is not letting guest stars derail things like it did back in seasons 3-4. Yes they have talented guest stars but I suppose I should be glad they’re treated like guest stars.
