Top early to predict, but I would love it for Viola, greatest actress of her generation
Sure Jan
April 3, 2022 at 1:12 pm #1204897142Tyrants? Gimme a break. All you international people wanting the Oscars to be a “global” award need to have a seat please. Stick to your own regional XYZ awards and be content with it. Oscar is an AMERICAN award and the foreign film category is more than enough to recognize international work.
What Hollywood needs to do is to cultivate diversity in AMERICAN movies so that we can have the diverse population of USA represented not only in movies but in nominations.
ReplyApril 3, 2022 at 5:02 am #1204895497I just saw Clayton Davis’ predictions. Why does he think The Woman King will receive 8 nominations but snub Viola Davis in Best Actress. Make it make sense.
I saw that too…completely baffles me. But then again Clayton is not known for his accurate predictions. I mean he switched to Cruz at the last minute.
I am all Team Robbie this year, but is she moves to supporting i want Viola to win.
April 1, 2022 at 7:17 pm #1204893612I’m very optimistic that “Till” will turn out to be an awards contender. The movie, which is directed by Chinonye Chukwu, who also directed “Clemency,” is about the efforts of Emmett Till’s mother, played by Danielle Deadwyler, to pursue justice for her lynched son. Whoopi Goldberg, who is also one of the producers, plays Emmitt Till’s grandmother. Hopefully, Deadwyler will become a Best Actress contender. (United Artists is the distributor.)
Ironically “Till” had a test screening here in NYC yesterday and i chose to skip it. Had i known that Danielle was getting raves i would’ve taken my ass to it.
April 1, 2022 at 7:14 pm #1204893608I’m open to counter arguments but I hope you all understood what exactly I’m trying to get across through the long analysis.
ReplyApril 1, 2022 at 4:47 pm #1204893456Another thing AMPAS could do is ban him from being nominated for future Oscars for a specified period of time, or forever, with the opportunity to apply at a future date for future eligibility, if the Board of Governors so chooses.
Yeah that would be some bullshit. The Academy would look tyrannical if they ban him from future nominations. Most members are not going to vote for him anymore by default after this so there is no need for a ban.
Either way this is lose-lose situation for everyone.
ReplyApril 1, 2022 at 4:41 pm #1204893453Andra Day was better than Frances Mcdormand
Although i still think Carey Mulligan DESERVED it but heck, Voila Davis was miles better than Frances. If they were giving out awards last year to actors who played themselves then Viola did a much better job.
Last year was definitely the best chance for them to change the stats but they went ahead and handed it to Frances McDormand for playing Frances Mcdormand in a boring-ass documentary.
ReplyApril 1, 2022 at 4:33 pm #1204893443If only he had controlled himself. We were all rooting for him but his arrogance got the best of him.
However it was a very smart move to resign and there is not much that the Academy can do now other than banning him from future ceremonies. The award is his, fair and square, and if the Academy attempts to take it away they will dig themselves a deep hole.
ReplyMarch 31, 2022 at 9:12 am #1204891378This is the weirdest crap I read today. Wendy and Lucy, Meek’s Cutoff, Manchester by the Sea, Certain Women, Fosse/Verdon, all are testaments to her talent and skill. Yes, Michelle is white bread, but she’s no regular white bread. She’s a locally-baked brioche of finest ingredients ever found, hun.
Awww honey, Bland Betty Williams cannot even pronounce this pretentiousness. She is Wonder-bread at its finest. We have other talented people that need to win, MW is a has-been.
March 30, 2022 at 6:34 pm #1204890783As much as I dislike his thirst for awards I’d love to see Idris Elba have nominations for Three Thousand Years of Longing simply because he was done so dirty for Beasts of No Nation And of course rooting for Tilda too, who was similarly badly snubbed for her last contender…
Has anyone seen TTYOL?? I had passes to the test screening but my dumbass forgot to attend on the day of. The premises of the movie sounds exciting.
March 30, 2022 at 6:31 pm #1204890778Williams seems on par with Chastain. Neither are necessarily overdue but would be on time for wins. Jackman has one (very questionable) nomination.
Williams should NEVER be compared to Chastain. Chastain is a supremely talented actor while Williams is as bland as whitebread.
March 30, 2022 at 1:58 pm #12048904692 black men shouldnt be entertainment for gold derbys pleasure to roast, judge and dissect during their pass times.
WTF kinda comment is that? Don’t some of you get tired of playing the race card all the time. An INCIDENT happened and people all around the world saw it and are discussing it irrespective of the respective party’s race. Being Black, White or Pink doesn’t give anyone the privilege of not being discussed especially when they have no control over themselves and show the entire world who they really are.
Next thing you know you’ll be telling us that Kanye West should not be discussed either and that he is a victim in all his PR stunts. Attention-Hoes deserve to be called out irrespective of their race.
ReplyMarch 27, 2022 at 8:55 pm #1204883877I am still shocked she didn’t win. I legit thought she had a chance but whatever
Well i knew Jessica was going to win it all back in October and i said it as well. They made fun of me back then but I am glad i was right.
March 27, 2022 at 8:46 pm #1204883770Wow, this was so bad. The show and the winners. The “joke” Amy Shummer did about Kirsten Dunst was repulsive.
What was “repulsive” about it? It was obvious everyone was in on it.
March 27, 2022 at 8:42 pm #1204883701Everyone who said a word against Chastain
Love you all but let me celebrate
Sorry hun but you were the most annoying of them all with your “Cruz is winning” rant for the last few days.
