The finale was excellent and featured a great payoff to many of the seemingly throwaway gags of the season.May 22, 2018 at 12:01 am #1202551603
I recall “11/9” as an Evan Peters showcase. After the first three Sarah Paulson-centric episodes, she took a backseat as the show caught up with Peters and justified his formation of a cult. He really won me over in it and I might cite it as his tape in my personal awards. Did Adina Porter even have a showcase? I thought that she was pretty bad in Cult.
I remember 11/9 being one of her bigger episodes. Her voice was weird but I still thought her performance was there.May 21, 2018 at 10:00 pm #1202551533
Electric Dreams- In such an open category, never underestimate the star power of Bryan Cranston.
Cristin Milioti- #Metoo, Black Mirror will win, overdue from Fargo, tons of buzz
Jesse Plemons– Had a lot of range and Black Mirror will definitely increase in nominations
Evan Peters- Had a lot of buzz, the category is opening up with flop fter flop, and is arguably overdue. He could also be helped by the political factor of Cult, which arguably helped it get it’s first WGA nomination.
Elizabeth Debecki- Has a major role in a film that will be a major Emmy player, and win at least one other acting Emmy.
Letitia Wright- She is Princess Shuri, Black Mirror will do very well, and she is very popular at the moment.
Jimmi Simpson- Having a career high and just got a BAFTA nomination
Cody Fern- Labeled as a breakout on the only lock for limited series. How is he so low?
Jon Jon Briones- Had a very showy and acclaimed role in the only lock for limited series, but appeared very late.
Fin Wittrock- Acclaimed performance in the lock for a limited series nomination.
Bill Pulman- Veteran actor who is frauding into supporting on a show that is already getting 1 acting nomination. The show was also watched by many people.
Tahaar Rahim- Fraudulent co-lead going supporting with meaty material
Scoot McNairy- Acclaimed performance on a show that could be huge at the EmmysMay 21, 2018 at 9:43 pm #1202551522
Tatiana Maslany- She won the last time she was nominated.
Drama Supporting Actress
Julia Garner- Supporting actress is packed, but Ozark has been under performing. Many critics and fans have highlighted Garner and she is the sole submission for supporting actress. She has been rising in her star lately and I could see her shocking.
Vanessa Kirby- She just won the BAFTA, her show is an Emmy favorite, and she has a lot of buzz.
Yvonne Strahovsky- Her show over performed in both wins and nominations last year. She is easily the most prominent of the supporting actresses. She could easily get in.
Drama Guest Actress
Jodi Balfour– Voters watch the Crown, and her episode could be nominated for writing and directing. Her performance was acclaimed and visibility won’t be the problem.May 21, 2018 at 9:32 pm #1202551516
My predictions are in bold
Arrested Development- A former winner that will be harmed by it’s late release date, but should still be taken seriously especially if it has acclaim.
Barry- It has critical acclaim, HBO backing, and a prestigious team. I had it in my seventh slot but took it out for a more conservative choice of Will & Grace.
Justina Machado- I’m a stan, so I am biased, but season 2 had much more buzz and she had much more acclaim. One Day at a Time season 1 made a surprising amount of critic top 10 lists, and season 2 had even more acclaim. She had a huge showcase episode that would dominate on a tape system. Her issue is visibility. If she has it then she is getting in. Season 1’s editing nomination suggests at least limited visibility. So it is very possible that with increased buzz and acclaim, she could sneak in, even with suck competition.
Tracy Jordan- While The Last OG doesn’t have the most acclaim, Jordan’s performance does. It is the most popular TBS show ever, and such a prestigious team could have brought Emmy voters to their screens.
Comedy Supporting Actress
Cecily Strong- SNL over performed last year. Strong appears frequently and could easily appear, despite the terrible season the show just had.
Rosie O’Donnell- I really think O’Donnell is a dark horse contender. While SMILF isn’t very buzzy, O’Donneell gives a very showy performance and is a veteran.
Aidy Bryant- Same reasons as Strong. She has been appearing a lot more frequently.
Judith Light- She was nominated last year. Nobody cares about Transparent anymore but I think she will stay in and be the show’s sole nomination.
Comedy Supporting Actor
JB Smoothe- Showy character is a show that over performed at the guilds and will probably over perform (at least relative to GD’s predictions) at the Emmys.
Andre Braugher- Previously nominated character in a category ripe for surprise. There’s always some surprising returns… Patinkin, Voight.
Comedy Guest Actress
Maya Rudolph- Respected past nominee on a show with a ton of buzz and acclaim. Could be a Martindale type nomination. The category is open and she has acclaim.
Comedy Guest Actor
Katt Williams- Atlanta will probably win. It has visibility. Williams had a showy role in the premiere of a show that could easily dominate.

I just watched Beryl and I can finally say that I am now on the Vanessa Kirby train.May 21, 2018 at 8:51 pm #1202551496
Finally watched the season finale and it was leaps and bounds better than every other very bad episode of the season. I liked the finale but I don’t understand how this season was so bad. Easily the shows worst season.May 21, 2018 at 8:49 pm #1202551495
Andre Braugher!May 21, 2018 at 4:32 pm #1202551333
I have nothing against the show. I’m just saying a lot of shows are getting picked up after being cancelled.May 21, 2018 at 3:40 pm #1202551311
Dang. This is the year to get your tv show cancelled.May 21, 2018 at 1:45 pm #1202551271
Love Angela Bassett, but feels random having her for her role in 911. I would have loved to have Mandy Moore included or Alexis Bledel (though she is very shy).
Swap her out for a Maslany, Headey, Russel, (Danielle) Brooks or even a Danes (I love her but not on the roundtable) and it would’ve been perfect. I’m suprised we didn’t get any limited actors. Dern? Biel? But someone fills the “Big Name with No Chance” slot every year. Last year it was Oprah, before that it was Jennifer Lopez.May 21, 2018 at 12:44 pm #1202551244
I am HERE for that drama Actress line up.May 21, 2018 at 11:43 am #1202551209
Chrissy Metz deserves to be Emmy nominated… but not for This is Us. She was hilarious in her guest role on the Last OG.
