Regardless of how fantastic and fun he is as Captain Jack and brutally sinister as Sweeney Todd, Depp’s best role will always be Edward Scissorhands to me. He perfectly portrays Edward’s innocence and vulnerability, creating one of the most endearing characters and performances I’ve ever seen.

However, I’m not hearing much talk here about its score, which is absolutely breathtaking. From the scores I’ve heard so far, it’s my heavily favored pick to win.

Spot on!
I’d also compare James Stewart and Tom Hanks as the ever-likable, empathetic everyman.

Gloves Off would definitely be Banks’ strongest submission

June 28, 2016 at 9:23 pm #1201858463I said it on the Oscars forum but I’ll mention it again here: this film looks absolutely fantastic and I think that many are underestimating it for Picture, Director, Adapted Screenplay, and the acting categories.
I’m so glad that Ewan McGregor finally has a real chance at a very deserved Oscar nomination (or even two).
ReplyJune 28, 2016 at 8:37 am #1201858274I thought this was easily the best season of the show. Every single episode this season was fantastic, with “Kissing Your Sister,” “Mother” and “Camp David” being some of the best episodes of the entire show. It’ll definitely repeat a series win and I’m 99% sure JLD will win a deserving fifth Emmy for her consistently amazing work.
I also think Tony Hale will win again, but I’m with the majority on these forums who believe he’s not the most deserving supporting actor on the show. Timothy Simons stole every scene he was in and had so much more to work with this season – but, sadly, I only see Tony Hale getting a nomination, which will probably carry him to a win.
Like most, I thought the finale left the fate of the characters and the show in an odd place, and I have no clue what direction they’ll go in next year. But, thanks to this stellar season, I have absolute confidence in the writers.
ReplyJune 27, 2016 at 3:56 pm #1201858106@hunterlogan, did you finish the season? There is your answer.
Good, definitely a drama then.
