SZA getting a ton of nominations would be so nice. She’s one of the few female artists of today that I haven’t really explored but SOS is a really good album.
Miley is going to have one of the biggest chart hits of the year so I hope she finally gets some love.
And Midnights is definitely getting recognized (with nominations at least). A huge commercial success backed by positive reviews. Taylor’s biggest misstep was submitting Red (Taylor’s Version). I know she doesn’t hide her need for approval & achievements anymore, but as a fan, that one will always rub me the wrong way. Should’ve only submitted ATW10MVFTV.
ReplyFebruary 3, 2023 at 5:15 am #1205282050Two and a half months later and I still can’t predict who will get this. It’s very clearly Harry vs Adele in my opinion [though I’d say “The Heart Part 5” and “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” would be my first picks].
I love both of these songs. Adele is Adele and I can see her getting rewarded for “Easy On Me” instead of the album. It’s also pure Grammy bait. Harry had the biggest song of the year (and one of the biggest of the decade), and a more popular album. He’s getting more and more industry support and now would be a good time for his first GF win.

somewhatpeaceful forums.I’m not an expert on the film industry (& awards), but I don’t think the voters pay attention to “who won when” and other statistics. The award is still Gaga’s in my eyes. “Naatu Naatu” makes sense too, considering it has won the category in so many major award ceremonies. Anyone else would surprise me.
ReplyJanuary 24, 2023 at 5:54 am #1205261085I’m so happy for Mitski! I didn’t think she had a chance.
ReplyJanuary 21, 2023 at 10:37 am #1205256289Gaga being so M.I.A. this time around makes me worried that she won’t perform. It’ll be a loss to have all these heavy-hitters and not watch them sing their songs. An orchestral performance would really elevate the song.
She’s still the only contender besides “Naatu Naatu” for me.
December 21, 2022 at 2:25 pm #1205205079So good to see The Quiet Girl in Best International Feature Film & Selena in the shortlist for Best Original Song.
I’m relieved Taylor didn’t make it cause the “All Too Well” film is not Academy Award-level and this category has a complete different meaning. If she wants a nomination, she should pick (& create) better projects instead of overpushing whatever she has lying around.
But God, the obsession is kinda funny. When your first reaction to a whole 10 shortlists being revealed is your joy over someone missing, you know there’s a problem.
ReplyDecember 16, 2022 at 3:05 pm #1205198197I’m so positive the award is Gaga’s that I’m gonna say that if she doesn’t get it, a complete outsider/no-name will.
December 12, 2022 at 12:09 pm #1205191361Taylor Swift & Martin McDonagh | Directors on Directors
ReplyDecember 12, 2022 at 7:57 am #1205190402I’m very excited about this. She has constantly talked about how directing feels like a natural extension of her storytelling and how it opened up a whole new world for her. She seems to be very into this new world lately, so I’m glad she’s taking up a more ambitious project.
I reckon the film world is a whole different place than the music world so I’d expect someone to have an issue with a film directed by Taylor. However I’m still disappointed to see fans of other hard-working & talented women musicians being so bitter over this. As a fan, I wish she wouldn’t milk all of her projects so transparently lately. She doesn’t need that and it takes away from her art. But I hardly believe that’s a reason to hope for someone’s downfall.
She is one of the most privileged women in the industry and she has always been very aware & vocal about her privilege. But I’m glad to see privileged celebrities use their position to take up extra projects and do the things they love instead of being linked with shady schemes and corruption. There’s no route she could’ve taken instead without anyone having an issue with it. People should really start fighting for unknown and upcoming directors & artists instead of only bringing them up for drama. Women filmmakers have been largely under-appreciated & overlooked through the years. Let’s fix that first. The issue is not Taylor taking up the one spot in the industry reserved for female directors. The issue is that there’s a single spot to begin with.
ReplyNovember 30, 2022 at 3:22 pm #1205171983This award is Gaga’s to lose.
A quick commentary on some of the songs before I cut to the chase: “Nobody Like U” & “Naatu Naatu” have similar chances in my opinion. “Stand Up” by Jazmine Sullivan seems like a surefire nominee. I think “Vegas” will be deemed ineligible but it definitely deserves a nomination in my opinion.
I’m obviously wishing “Carolina” somehow makes it in since it’s poetic and decent melodically and also because she won’t stop jumping on these poor films until she gets a goddamn Oscar.
As for the big 2… I adore both of these ladies. I’ve never been a fan of “Hold My Hand” which is surprising to me cause I’m obsessed with the A Star Is Born soundtrack (and especially the underappreciated “Before I Cry”, which sort of sounds like HMH to me). So I thought that there would be stronger songs by this time of year. Spoiler: there are not.
I had the highest expectations for “Lift Me Up” but I simply can’t see it doing anything.
I might make a fool of myself come March butI believe Gaga is the strongest contender and also the film was a critical and commercial behemoth.November 15, 2022 at 12:07 pm #1205154188Should: The Heart Part 5/About Damn Time/Easy On Me

Will: Easy On Me/As It Was/About Damn TimeNovember 15, 2022 at 12:04 pm #1205154173I think if Taylor wins SOTY in her career, it has to be with “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)”. The most important award for her for her most important song.
I love Adele, Harry, Bey, Kendrick & Lizzo as well. Adele is probably the strongest here but I really want to see “The Heart Part 5” get some GF recognition so Kendrick would be my second favorite pick.
Should: All Too Well/The Heart Part 5/About Damn Time

After the Fearless (Taylor’s Version) statement, I was really hoping she wouldn’t submit her re-recorded albums, except for Vault tracks. I hope she gets nominations for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” & maybe even “Nothing New”/”I Bet You Think About Me” but none for the album, which already got plenty of shoutouts in 2014.Why are you reporting this post?
