I’m starting to think that the winner could be none of the 3 frontrunners. Gaga and Rihanna are huge pop stars and could split the votes of the ones who like the pop mainstream ballads. Naatu Naatu has some passion but keep in mind there will be almost no British voters voting for it for obvious reasons and a lot of the others may not have even seen the movie as it’s not nominated in any other category. Like ok I still think it’s Naatu Vs Gaga but there’s a part of me that thinks it could be Mitski taking it.
February 13, 2023 at 6:01 am #1205301844I would have never came across that song if I wasn’t following this Oscar season, viral it’s not. Between Spotify and Youtube, even the supposed “flop” HMH has more total streams combined.
Naatu Naatu has many different versions on YouTube and combined the streams are more than all the rest of the nominees combined. Spotify is not common in India.
February 12, 2023 at 7:02 pm #1205301387everyone lips at these things even Beyoncé.
Gagas was 100% live. There’s a mic feed to prove it.
ReplyFebruary 12, 2023 at 5:46 pm #1205301266We no longer need to factor in the Super Bowl as it was awful. I had low expectations but it was even worse.
February 12, 2023 at 6:53 am #1205300829Am I right in saying Hold my hand has the most awards amongst the nominees? Like I know Naatu Naatu won the 2 big ones but I’m talking number wise.
February 6, 2023 at 6:56 am #1205294004People talking about this huge buzz regarding Rihanna’s Super Bowl forget that she’s no Gaga or Beyonce as far as live performances go. The whole show might have playback which helped Shakira and Jlo and the choreo will be non existent. What may save her will be some extravagant sets
January 15, 2023 at 6:12 pm #1205246117At least Gaga & Rihanna had legitimate shots, they’ll end the season with some awards. Taylor very well can be booted out the Top 5 spot for Diane Warren. That said something about voters gravitating to Naatu Naatu due to its dance scene in the film is reminiscent of Gangnam Style, a parody if you will.
I prefer that to total snoozefests. Like I love Gaga and I think HMH is the better one of the lullabies but NN on stage will be killer.
January 13, 2023 at 8:30 am #1205241106Kinda hilarious that Gaga is racking up the awards while actively being disengaged from the race while Riri and Taylor willing to sell their left arm for the awards
January 11, 2023 at 2:04 am #1205234509Top Gun 2 is the movie in trouble. It couldn’t even get best song at the freakin golden globes
The Globes hate Tom Cruise and Naatu Naatu has crazy momentum at the moment.
ReplyJanuary 10, 2023 at 9:58 pm #1205234158why are you bringing up the shortlist and how in the hell does that cause for Gaga & Rih cancelling out? im pretty sure if the music branch had the final say, they’d finally give Warren the award to finally put her out of her misery in this category not some loopy doopy dance sequence film twitter continues to try and shove down our throats
Well mate it’s not just film Twitter now is it. It has won more precursors than the others. Just because you don’t get it doesn’t mean it’s not a worthy winner.
January 10, 2023 at 9:23 pm #1205234067you think the mass Academy will know Naatu Naatu like w LIG or Shallow? its literally a no1curr category, most voters just checks off the film they know/like the most. its the reason why Bond songs have become a stigma to this category. they literally have no retrospective to the film itself aside from OST. its also why Diane Warren keeps on losing every single year. Film recognition matters especially in a BTL like BOS, not just in the realm of film twitter where they think some funky dance suddenly deserves the top prize b/c its showy and flashy performance out of all the contendees. its not going to work if the Academy can barely recognize the film name on the ballot
it already made the Oscar shortlist and is only voted on by the music section. It’s a strong contender for sure plus Gaga and Rihanna will cancel each other out. In any case Gaga would be above Rihanna. I have Rihanna at 4

January 10, 2023 at 7:18 pm #1205233258the performers name don’t show up on the ballot only song and film title and lets be honest none of the original song contendee’s are well known hits
your response makes so little sense I don’t even know how to respond. It’s a film award so obviously the visuals and how it works within the realms of the movie is important. Secondly, very few songs in this category have been hits and not a single one of the 5 songs are hits so that irrelevant anyway.
January 10, 2023 at 6:39 pm #1205232786I’m a huge Gaga fan and even I’ve been saying Naatu Naatu is taking it for ages. It’s the best song by a country mile, it’s got important placement in the movie and the choreography and visuals are stellar. Also Rihanna and Gaga may cancel each other out, kinda similar songs from big pop artists. Edit: Omg Taylor fans are going wild on Twitter. Kinda hilarious as she was probably at number 5.
January 6, 2023 at 6:12 pm #1205224599RRR at most is getting a BOS nom, its BP dreams sinked today when All Quiet confirmed its place as the foreign leading contender
RRR was never going to get in at the BAFTAs. I’m Indian and even I thought the portrayal of the British was too OTT and exaggerated (example: A worker forgetting to bring his ID and the British officer beating him to a pulp for that or the overly racist language used by the British in the film). I’m not saying the British were angels but it was so hamfisted without nuance. I doubt it would have been a comfortable watch for the Brit voters.
