I’m thinking of a indie pop rock vibe. And while the songs will be sad and or very serious thematically we’ll get a couple of bops.
August 15, 2022 at 10:29 am #1205046460“Taylor Swift will be honored by NSAI as the Songwriter-Artist of the Decade” Past winners include Vince Gill and Toby Keith
points are calculated based on the percentage of songwriting credit in a Nashville-associated song, according to each song’s performance on a weekly basis in the top 20 of the Billboard Country Airplay Chart, Billboard Pop Songs chart, Billboard Christian Airplay chart or Billboard Rock Airplay chart.
The show takes place on September 20th at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium! This is big for Taylor and is just one of the many “decade-end” accolades that she’s received. She is looking to have a VERY active fall with the VMAs later this month, the Nashville Songwriter awards (this), and a rumored TS10 rollout. It’s an exciting time for Swifties! https://www.billboard.com/music/awards/taylor-swift-ashley-gorley-nsai-nashville-songwriter-awards-1235126676/
ReplyAugust 15, 2022 at 9:35 am #1205046387Looks like 1-2 performers could be announced. Taylor or Beyoncé are the two artists right now who could be considered as the “final annoucement” AKA biggest performance of the night. I really don’t know if Bey will show up since she has zero nominations but I think Taylor is highly likely to show up, and possibly perform as she’s guaranteed to win *something*. Also it seems like she could be using the VMAs to launch TS10 but who knows.
ReplyAugust 6, 2022 at 8:19 pm #1205037233I think Lizzo is probably the only artist that’s literally guaranteed (besides the already announced artists.) Likely a 2 Be Loved or ADT performance (maybe a mashup.) Taylor is also extremely likely in my eyes. Her team has pushed this show like no other, doing voting posts literally every day. However contrary to what many are saying, I doubt she’ll do ATW. She’s been confirmed to be in vogue by a VERY reliable insider (who has gotten scoops correctly with her before.) And insiders saying she’s working on a music video. So I think we’ll get the first performance of her lead single (TS10) at the VMAs. Harry and Bad Bunny could do pre-recorded performances and Latto also seems likely. Besides that it seems up in the air.
August 2, 2022 at 10:48 pm #1205033318Harry sweep commences this year. Taylor is his only threat in AOTY and MAYBE Justin could pull off best pop rock male.

August 2, 2022 at 10:25 pm #1205033314VMAs is all about whoever attends/performs. With Doja and Olivia likely not attending (both just aren’t pushing things right now.) and Harry, Justin, and Bad Bunny being on tour I think it’s pretty much gonna be Taylor and Lizzo’s night. Both will most likely attend and probably perform. ATW is likely a lock for long form and director but I could see them giving her VOTY as well. Her team has been promoting the voting non stop and even Dylan O’Brien hinted at attending. If him and Sadie go they won’t be able to resist handing over the biggest award of the night to Taylor. Other than that it’s just a big tossup. We really have to wait until we know who is performing/attending.
ReplyAugust 2, 2022 at 10:20 pm #1205033312The Sun reports that “Taylor Swift is making her first album of original material in almost two years”
“A music insider said: “Taylor is enjoying the process of tinkering with new sounds and is set to showcase a range of genres on her next album, which will surprise her fans.
“It’ll also be her most collaborative album yet and she is eager to work with up-and-coming female artists and producers.
“She recently invited some friends to write with her and the songs they came up with reminded her team of Stevie Nicks and Joan Armatrading.”
The Sun is not reliable, for the record. However with a credible leaker (who has leaked Taylor mags before) confirming that Taylor will cover Elle UK in October and another leaker saying Taylor was actively making a music video as of at least 2 weeks ago it is SAFE to say that she is coming for a Q4 (or possibly Q1 2023) release that is an entirely new project. I suspect this likely was her team basically tipping the sun off about a new release and then them running wild with whatever conspiracies’ they can get away with. Taylor has been seen carrying keyboards out of meetings as of early this year, we saw similar things before the beginning of the ‘Lover’ era.
So at this point it’s a matter of when. If I had to guess lead single will drop later this month (just in time for the VMAs) or September then we get the album in October or November. I think there’s a big reason why she didn’t drop any full length re-recordings this year. And I believe it’s because she’s been working on a new project since late last year and didn’t want to be too overexposed. Debut was right there for a spring time release and she just didn’t do anything with it. Anyways let us celebrate! New Taylor content soon!
ReplyApril 11, 2022 at 9:09 pm #1204913752ts10 is definitely not coming this year. she hasn’t even announced the next rerecording yet, she’s been radio silent since december. she won’t be a big conversation at the grammys until like 2025 earliest tbh but next year i could defo see her getting a nom for BSFVM with Carolina. The fact that it’s the only post of hers on instagram this year, she’s defo giving it a spotlight. It’s self written and produced by Aaron Dessner so it will be folklore/safe and sound vibes. Obviously she won’t win and beat WDTAB but she can defo get a nomination considering she’s won that category and has three nominations. If she can land a nomination with the worst reviewed movie of all time – CATs, she can get in with Carolina.
I wouldn’t count out TS10 entirely. Radio silence is always the norm before a big rollout. I think that TS10 is a little more distant (October-November time) than many think but still Taylor has been on the move lately. She recently did a meeting with a lot of her team and her parents were there. This happened before the Lover era begun as well. She was carrying a mini keyboard out with her. So I wouldn’t count out TS10, now Grammys wise I would though. Especially if it drops pre-eligibility period. Only grammy I could see her winning is if she went back to pop for TS10 and was able to garner acclaim and not have huge competition.
April 11, 2022 at 8:54 pm #1204913715The buzz on “All Too Well” kinda came and went. I doubt Grammy voters will remember it.
Not really. The song is highly acclaimed and so is it’s 10 minute version. Critics and tabloids don’t talk about songs long after their release. The fact that it was able to go #1 and linger for months was impressive due to it’s length. No other artist could do it. If it’s submitted It’ll be nominated. If Taylor submits it and campaigns she’ll get the SOTY and possibly BPSP nomination. Winning is another question but it’s possible. And the song has already been awarded. It’s video was also awarded by the “ADG Excellence in Production Design Awards.” While it’s distance from the grammys voting period could hurt it, it’s still 100% getting nominated if it’s submitted. IF is the question.
April 8, 2022 at 4:53 pm #1204909420That’s because Pop albums votes were split in the GF. Stop talking to me to pls.
Pop votes in the general field were likely allocated to Olivia, Billie, Doja, Lil Nas X, and even Justin in higher amounts than Love For Sale. The current pop voting bloc is not gonna swing for that music, I’m sorry they just aren’t. Pop voters didn’t even think folklore was pop enough. Why in the world do you think they’d mass vote for a traditional pop/jazz album?
ReplyApril 8, 2022 at 4:48 pm #1204909415We Are in all its technicalities could be considered a Jazz/R&B record. And yes the last black person to win AOTY was from a Jazz Record as well.
We Are had cross genre support INCLUDING jazz. But it also received support from R&B voters (a large bloc) as well as voters from the American Roots bloc. Having a broad coalition wins awards. Having 3, possibly even 4 voters blocs behind you will do the trick. Look at the past winners. We Are, folklore, WWAFAWDWG, Golden Hour, etc had sprawling appeal.
ReplyApril 8, 2022 at 4:38 pm #1204909405Pop, Jazz and Traditional Pop Vocal album so STFU. You absolutely don’t know a f@cking thing. He has won the GF multiple times.
Yeah the album had zero “pop” support the second we saw Kiss Me More win BPD/GP. Which is something that I called would happen from the jump. Traditional pop/jazz is a witling in size voting bloc. A jazz album has not won in 14 years. That was Gaga and Tony’s voting bloc. It proved to be not enough because in all reality the album was getting buzz BECAUSE it was Tony’s last. Grammys rarely hand out prizes based on sentimental things like that. The album didn’t even have half of the acclaim that The Joni Letters (the last jazz record to win this award) received. Also, Tony last won this award nearly 30 years ago. Stop comparing the voting bloc from then to the voting bloc now. Just be happy that the album got it’s cute couple of wins.
ReplyApril 8, 2022 at 3:31 pm #1204909362The show was not as good as last year’s period. The awards were so much more predictable, the performances were inferior, and the discourse and conspiracies are already becoming tired. Jon Batiste released a good album that had buzz within the industry, he won. This happened to Beck and countless other niche artists/projects. I think people had this odd pre-preconceived notion that the most popular albums nominated would win. When in all reality the splitting of the pop vote was destined to cause an album from behind to jump into the lead. And I think those who thought a collection of covers would win simply as a farewell gift to Tony Bennett were ridiculous were delusional. It never stood a chance. There just isn’t a voting bloc big enough for it to have won. So yes overall this was just an under baked version of last year’s show. They still cannot shake off the awkwardness of post-virus ceremonies.
ReplyApril 8, 2022 at 3:18 pm #1204909356The VMAs have become more and more rigged as time goes on. So who wins will most likely be who attends. Conventional wisdoms tells us that the ATW Short Film would have the popularity to be nominated and the fan power to win so that *should* be there. But the VMAs loves to throw us curve balls so I truly have zero idea who will end up with nominations or wins. I also see them wanting to give Doja a big night as well. If Taylor is a no show, Doja could very much be the VOTY winner.
ReplyApril 8, 2022 at 3:14 pm #1204909350With 10 nominations all it takes now is for an album to have a small plurality of votes to win and if pop albums clog up the list again we could see Adele fall short and Silk Sonic take it by surprise. I also just think Adele is being overestimated. So many assumed Billie would practically have AOTY in the bag because of her past 2 Grammy ceremonies where she pretty much got everything she was up for. But HTE was a commercial and critical backslide from her first project. The same thing can be said about 30 commerically. The album faded from the public’s ear rather quickly and has only posted modestly impressive numbers in the US. To assume Adele will have the force to just come in and win everything may be unwise. I think she will certainly sweep the pop field and possibly SOTY/ROTY but 30 as a whole just doesn’t have the same larger than life feel that brought 21/25’s Grammy luck. But Silk Sonic’s project was also overshadowed and was never really at the forefront of the public so it’s hard to tell. I think it’s for sure a bigger tossup than people think it’ll be.
