It’s a really stylish and well-directed episode so I’d be happy with this outcome. The trend of the comedy front runner sweeping this category even when it’s not a directing showcase is starting to irk me.

Networks are much savvier now about submissions which makes it all the more baffling when you see a show fumble like Lovecraft Country. Given the competition, it probably could’ve gotten a directing nomination but it submitted like six episodes.

This is a really fantastic and unique pilot for a totally underrated show

I’m not even sure that the Expanse will be on the writing ballot but they should really be in the conversation this year, especially with the lack of more “prestige” titles. Now that the show is on Amazon, I hope more people are finally discovering it.

Probably not but would be great if we were – a really unique, ambitious show that is far better than the majority of the contenders being thrown around in this weak year.

Ruth Wilson, yes. The others obviously not. I didn’t say they exclusively go for fresh faces, only that they often go for them. Ignoring those saying Cuoco, who starred on one of the biggest shows of all time is “fresh” wile Smollett isn’t because of Eve’s Bayou…

Maybe not but the Globes often go for the fresh new face. Colman and Cuoco don’t really fit that bill.

I think Smollett could definitely win, especially if they nominate LC in series.

Can’t believe we were robbed of a Maya Rudolph speech. So happy she won, though.

Hard for me to buy a Levy win over Shalhoub – he will already be winning writing and I don’t think his acting is necessarily as respected or considered a standout element of the series. Fleabag was way more of an acting showcase for PWB than SC is for Levy.

Probably gonna lost point for predicting Maya Rudolph over Taika in voice over but I really hope she finally wins.
