I’m so glad that white Michelle and Margot Robbie both got snubbed. The first was supporting and can’t defraud the category, besides she’s the most boring actress on earth. As for Robbie can’t just get a free pass nomination on each role she plays, so with this campy movie, not a chance, maybe in other captivating roles.

    SAG got it right!

When the legend is out, the best actress category is a mess and the most boring category of Oscar night.

See if i personally had to chose nominees from purely acting stand point I’d go with zar, andrea,Thompson and Deadwyler. But the way circumstances are going, we’ll probably have Williams, blanchett, yeoh, and one form viola or colman. I actually don’t have any idea about the 5th spot.

The academy will give Colman a rest for a few years before granting her another nod. Her movie is a flop, and she won’t get back to back nominations unless the movie and the role are solid. She’s respected, but she’s not Meryl Streep after all.

There are barely any decent best-actress performances this year. All contenders were ok, and even Cate Blanchette, although her performance was captivating, the movie’s script sucks: a lesbian conductor who’s outstanding in her job but favours women to make it interferes with her profession. End of story.

However, I can see that Emma Thompson gets a nomination for the fifth spot. Oscars like to give a surprise nominee in this category.

    Crash’s Best Picture win.

You gotta be kidding. Crowning Crash as best picture over Brokeback Mountain was more condescending than rewarding Will Smith with a standing ovation following his bullying and violent act.

Oscars voters in general get influenced by momentum and the current campaign. Netflix often campaigns early and doesn’t leave their winning card for late, and in a long Oscar season like this year, the buzz died for many contenders and new ones surfaced at the right time. The best picture usually suffers the most in terms of current buzz. The Power of The Dog would easily win if its campaign has started in January instead of last October.

Since when the Oscar reward the best film of the year especially if that film won the Golden Globe, so they have the other direction:

    Crash over Brokeback Mountain

    Moonlight over La La Land

    Spotlight over The Revenant

The list goes on…It’s just pathetic to go for the good feel movie despite its lacking best picture elements.

Shame on the Academy for rewarding Will Smith after assaulting a comedian on a live TV show. Hollywood was clapping for him instead of arresting him and disqualifying him from the award show. I’m done with the Oscars, I don’t need training lessons in violence and I don’t want to see villains get rewarded for their aggression. It stinks.

P.S. a new rule: actors can’t win Oscars unless they pass the aggression test.

What have we learned? free lesson on violence by Will Smith. Actors can’t win unless they pass the aggression test.

Chastain, what an awful dress to forget and performance to deny too.

Kidman was the fashion queen of the show and she remains the queen.
