Obviously impossible to know, but with queen beating crown with costume guild, I wonder what would happen if they were to compete in the same genre at the Emmys.

emma losing to gillian makes me think fellow 20something anya would beat her.April 12, 2021 at 1:06 pm #1204196148So 14 Oscar nominees plus zendaya? Hmm. Maybe they’re hoping she’s a nominee soon enough.

Increases my thought that Colman would have won if she were there.April 11, 2021 at 1:52 pm #1204194158Is last year’s lineup of 100% white actors “a fair system to begin with?”
ReplyApril 11, 2021 at 1:36 pm #1204194058The biggest loser here is the jury system, because the results absolutely confirm that voters don’t pay any mind to the people who clearly would not have been nominated under the prior system.
On the other hand, Gourav, Mikkelsen, Bakray, Blank, Mosaku, Kim, Koeghan, Peters, Madekwe, Fishback, Ali, and Algar getting to be major awards nominees is great for them and serves the purpose of the system.

ReplyApril 11, 2021 at 1:28 pm #1204194008BAFTA went out of their way to reward Yuh-Jung Youn whose film was mostly ignored by BAFTA but they rewarded her still since they appreciated her performance. That says a lot for the diverse winners tonight.
No they didn’t go out of their way. They had two Oscar nominated choices: one a mockumentary sequel, one a traditional family drama that was only a question mark because it wasn’t white.

Don’t forget those times you all complained about award groups repeating themselves. This is what we wanted.
um no…if bakray or blank or kirby or mosaku or woodard won, it would not have been repeating.
mcdormand is repeating history.
April 11, 2021 at 1:13 pm #1204193873Bafta juried nominees = most diverse, electric lineup of any awards
Bafta voters winners = least diverse, most 20th century feeling lineup of any awardsI suspect Colman would have beaten Youn too; the only oscar nominee Youn had to overcome was the mockumentary sequel.

Well we know she has no chance now so.
