I’m starting to feel like the committee will give monae and musgraves each two gf noms, and I’m at peace with thatNovember 22, 2018 at 4:33 pm #1202680401
THR are doing a songwriters roundtable this year • Jack Antonoff, 34 (“Alfie’s Song (Not So Typical Love Song)” from Love, Simon) • David Crosby, 77 (“Home Free” from Little Pink House) • Kesha, 31 (“Here Comes the Change” from On the Basis of Sex) • Tim McGraw, 51 (“Gravity” from Free Solo) • Boots Riley, 47 (the soundtrack for Sorry to Bother You); • Mark Ronson, 43 (“The Shallow” from A Star Is Born) • Diane Warren, 62 (“I’ll Fight” from the doc RBG)
tim mcgraw’s been campaigning pretty hard huh? with asib only submitting one song I can see him, kesha, and troye fighting for that last spotNovember 22, 2018 at 2:41 pm #1202680369
Is Theron being widely predicted? Her film is going to be all but forgotten by nominations. I don’t see her going anywhere.
this year’s race in comedy/musical actress is too weak for her to not get in based on name recognition alone, not to mention Tully had pretty solid reviewsNovember 21, 2018 at 9:01 pm #1202680120
what do we make of the whole thing about a potential ariana collab?November 21, 2018 at 8:54 pm #1202680118
My thoughts may be wild, but I have always seen the Golden Globes as more of a fame-hungry nominating body, so I have been anticipating more star power than what the Oscars may bring. Honestly, I feel like Julia Roberts might be undeniable in the Best Drama Actress race. I could see her bumping out McCarthy or Davis.
interesting point, they did give madonna best actress over frances mcdormand in FARGO after allNovember 21, 2018 at 8:10 pm #1202680107
is the aretha biopic set to come out next year? I feel like it’ll be a big player in costume, sound, and jhud is very likely to get an actress nomNovember 21, 2018 at 2:39 pm #1202679962
I mentioned this contender in the other thread. I am not sure if she was submitted for consideration, but Noname is someone who could get in the way Anderson.Paak and Courtney Barnett did. They’re all very similar, even though they are all in different genres.
would love to see noname get in! isn’t room 25 like the highest rated album of 2018 on metacritic?November 21, 2018 at 1:10 pm #1202679898
I’m actually curious see how tswift is gonna do in a proper production (instead of like, you know, the valentine’s day movie) and that is pretty much the only reason I’ll be seeing this filmNovember 20, 2018 at 12:55 pm #1202679058
I am not buying that Camila hype. Sure she can get nominated but a win? I wouldn’t think so!
the only reason I have her at my first slot is that (and I have mentioned it in another thread) the only instance where pop solo did not got to the biggest hit in the running was Adele for set fire to the rain, and that was when they had three number 1 songs in the running, out of the potential nominees this year Havana is the only one to have even made top 5. at this point the only thing I can see working against her will be potential category fraud backlashNovember 20, 2018 at 12:28 pm #1202679041

The BAFTAs is the same day as the Grammys. Gaga will be most likely skipping the Grammys.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she skips bafta actually, that best actress trophy is olivia colman’s to lose, and they don’t have a best original song categoryNovember 20, 2018 at 11:53 am #1202679006
beauty and a beast shouldn’t have been nominated for costume design just for ruining belle’s yellow dress, even the drag queens at my local bar can make something much more fabulous
