Gaga in Song, EEAAO in Score, Tar in cinematographyReplyMarch 5, 2023 at 8:31 am #1205332986
Fuck it, I’m predicting EEAAO in most everything idcMarch 3, 2023 at 9:42 am #1205330515
Using the term “woke” is just a replacement for a slur at this pointMarch 2, 2023 at 8:41 am #1205329039
manifesting a tie between Yeoh and Blanchett sooo badly
Half of me hates the idea of a tie, other half of me would absolutely LIVE for itFebruary 20, 2023 at 10:10 am #1205311037
I feel like Angela is still winning. If we look at the past few year’s Supporting Actress winners, the winners have more similarities to Angela rather than Kerry.
I would say the last Kerry-style person to win here was Alicia Vikander… but she had 2 big movies that she shined in that year, AND it was also category fraud. I still think Kerry’s #2, but I don’t think she wins here over Angela based on Supporting Actress history.
It seems like a category where they typically always recognize a name over a newcomer. Lupita & Jennifer H. were also newcomer wins here, but their performances were way more undeniable & they were sweeping.February 20, 2023 at 10:02 am #1205311026
I do think All Quiet is the perfect alternative to Everything.
Tar is too high brow
How is “Tar” too high brow, but “All Quiet” isn’t??? It’s literally high brow awards bait & a previous BP winnerFebruary 20, 2023 at 9:52 am #1205311012
Streep & McDormand would actually be a fabulous choice.
But… I wouldn’t be shocked if they picked Chris Rock, lolReplyFebruary 18, 2023 at 12:51 pm #1205307599
EEAAO is winning BP & Director & maybe even Screenplay
IMO, Banshees & Tar are going to split votes… same with Elvis & Top GunJanuary 24, 2023 at 6:10 am #1205261530
The Oscars have a Best Actress problem.January 24, 2023 at 5:54 am #1205261114
I’m sad for DanielleJanuary 20, 2023 at 7:57 am #1205254971
At this point the win for me is Gaga getting IN so she can attend & perform lolJanuary 19, 2023 at 10:15 am #1205253676
To me it seems fairly clear that this is the likely BP lineup
1. Everything Everywhere All at Once
3. Top Gun: Maverick
4. The Banshees of Inisherin
5. The Fabelmans
7. All Quiet on the Western Front
8. Avatar: The Way of Water
9. The Whale
10. Triangle of Sadness
I wonder if we will have TWO international film directors in Best Director this year. I could see Berger and Park both making it in… at who’s expense I’m not quite yet sure.January 19, 2023 at 10:06 am #1205253643
Are we all set to have the most perfect Best Actress Oscar lineup since 2006?
I would say yes if “Blonde” weren’t such a terrible movieJanuary 19, 2023 at 4:28 am #1205252554
Michelle Williams is not getting the #1 votes she needsJanuary 19, 2023 at 4:23 am #1205252513
1. Cate Blanchett
2. Michelle Yeoh
3. Viola Davis
4. Danielle Deadwyler
5. Ana de Armas
And I still think a surprise nomination is more likely here than Michelle Williams getting in at this point. It’s just not a lead performance voters are going to be passionate about. Not now
