Neither of them gave performances worthy of a BA nomination and win. Nicole is well-liked in the industry, and Gaga is only getting nominated because of who she is and not the quality of her performance. Chastain’s movie and performance are mediocre, but it’s the kind that Academy voters like. I like Nicole but her potentially winning her second Oscar this year for BTR would be so underwhelming. If she wins the SAG-which is highly likely considering her popularity there and the fact she got nominated for Bombshell-then she’ll likely win her second Oscar this year. Just go and look at the reception she received from SAG voters whenever she attended a screening for BTR.
