Bitter Nolan and La La Land stans are the only ones that have a problem with Parasite winning. Shocking.March 10, 2020 at 5:56 pm #1203377638
Parasite sweeping like it should.March 8, 2020 at 9:27 am #1203374879
If Parasite wins it’s because it is indeed the Best Picture of the decade, not because of recency bias lol.March 1, 2020 at 3:40 pm #1203366099
What makes you think OUATIH would’ve won SAG? Jojo Rabbit outperformed it at the guilds big time, it could have won that easily, going to the Oscars with the same combo that Parasite did. But ultimately, 1917 would’ve won the Oscar for Picture and Director.February 26, 2020 at 1:33 am #1203360746
A black director will most likely happen, maybe as soon as next year with Spike Lee for Da 5 Bloods, or maybe in a few years when Jordan Peele creates another Get Out level thing.
A sci-fi movie winning BP could also happen as soon as next year if Dune delivers, tho that’s less likely.
A movie winning BP with no directing, writing and acting wins almost happened this year, so maybe? The preferential ballot era is breaking some stats.February 26, 2020 at 1:27 am #1203360742

After watching my favorite film of all time, Mad Max Fury Road, I appreciate the story a whole lot more and think it’s criminally underrated. The fact that Fury Road’s story is so simple is actually what makes it so great: it’s not filled with complicated overarching plotlines like Fast and Furious, or incomprehensible plot twists like Mission Impossible Fallout, or an overabundance of characters like John Wick. It’s a simple story packed to the gills with rich themes of feminism, acceptance, redemption, and finding your place in the world; none of which ever feel preachy. It also has some of the most phenomenal characters and character arcs of the decade, and it’s the best example of great world-building in recent memory. Also Fury Road has the best Cinematography of the decade, and Emmanuel Lubetski didn’t deserve a third Oscar.
Agreed. Fury Road should’ve won an additional three Oscars for Picture, Director and Cinematography, and an additional nom for Charlize Theron.February 21, 2020 at 12:09 am #1203354685

04. Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
06. The Irishman
07. Marriage Story
08. Ford v Ferrari
09. Little WomenFebruary 21, 2020 at 12:04 am #1203354679
<p style=”text-align: left;”>It was 1917, obviously.</p>February 17, 2020 at 3:13 am #1203349254
Yes. The acting snubs I can “understand”, but I don’t get how the score was so overlooked everywhere, it was amazing and elevated the movie. The peach scene bit will be iconic.
In a fair world, Parasite would’ve had the noms it got + Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Cinematography and Score.February 15, 2020 at 5:02 pm #1203348106
