BILLIE winning Album of the Year.November 2, 2019 at 8:07 pm #1203163576
They should make the eligibility period December 1st – November 30.
And just have the ceremony in May.October 31, 2019 at 5:56 pm #1203161176
When Taylor gets nominated for AOTY she’s never filler. I have no doubt Red was the runner up that year. The Grammys will likely block her from Album as she will be a threat to win. But ROTY.. she has a shot to be a filler nominee because of the message of the song. The Grammys are also political too. Having This Land and You Need to Calm Down can fill their social awareness slots.October 31, 2019 at 4:12 pm #1203161072
Ariana missing Pop SoloOctober 31, 2019 at 9:32 am #1203160578
Lose you to love me is better lyrically but as a song thank u next is stronger. Better production, better melody, (not even going to mention vocals because..yeah) and a more enjoyable song. Both are good.October 30, 2019 at 6:59 pm #1203159808
This is where we don’t see eye to eye, girl.
I’m not understanding this Taylor Swift rhetoric from her fans and even non-fans that think she’s automatically in major categories just because of frontloaded first weeks and aggressive campaigning. Even with her two AOTY wins, Taylor is still very much a divisive artist. That’s why you never see her sweeping the Grammys. She’s only smashing in wins when she is smashing in an era. She hasn’t won ROTY or SOTY and barely any of the genre categories. She’s not an Adele when it comes to this.
I wouldn’t use divisive to describe someone like Taylor Swift. She’s still well liked – one would say too liked by the Academy. I think she’ll get a General Field nom as a filler commercial pick. Her star power and commercial appeal can get her in one of the big 3. I don’t see her winning but I can see them nominating her.October 30, 2019 at 12:37 pm #1203159324
Reputation did the same. Sometimes you have to think about things in a relative sense. If she had a #1 smash, then the decline wouldn’t be so obvious. It hasn’t produced a true smash. Just merely a couple of hits.
Reputation didnt have a “SMASH” either. She had a song that was BIG for a couple weeks coming off of her biggest Pop era ever 1989 so the lead would have been huge out the gate automatically. Now shes recovering from a lackluster era but yet still managed 3 top 10 singles. 2 of those Top 2. I wouldn’t call that a SIGNIFICANT decline seeing as “Reputation” was a decline from 1989.October 30, 2019 at 12:35 pm #1203159322
um is doing good but there not a lasting hit. Without that it cannot make ROTY and SOTY. That will leave AOTY but there are already enough pop stars
The point is… The album sold. She didn’t hold a gun to their heads to buy it. Just because there are 100 versions of something.. the content on the album is still the same. Is it not? Right.
ANd for the record.. Im not predicting her to be nominated in Album of the Year I am just pointing out that this “sheep-like” behavior that she’s OVER at the Grammys and that she’ll never have another moment again because of Reputation is false. If Reputation harmed her career that badly then she wouldnt almost scan a million albums 1st week again Or be selling out stadiums internationally.October 30, 2019 at 12:14 pm #1203159300
does NOT meet any of those qualifications. Swift is only getting 1-2 nominations in Po
Its still performing better than 98% of all the other albums released this year. It’s going to be difficult to best yourself with every release. That’s highly unlikely. On paper, “Lover” is a hit album. It has already sold more than 1 Million copies pure.Maybe only 2 albums in this eligibility period has done that.October 30, 2019 at 11:03 am #1203159181
Some of you are forgetting that just because Taylor had 1 BAD era with an album that was polarizing doesn’t mean that she’ll suffer the same fate forever…
This is a woman who have been nominated for AOTY 3 times and has won twice. She’s made it into ROTY/SOTY with a song that misses its genre category. She shouldn’t be underestimated.October 30, 2019 at 9:30 am #1203158996
I have Taylor in 5.
Record of the Year (I think she’ll get in 1/3 and this seems more likely)
Pop Solo Performance OR Pop Duo/Group (I think she’ll get a genre slot)
Pop Vocal Album
Country Duo Group
I cant see her getting more than 5 and She’ll likely lose all.
