Yeah, Fargo is a Drama series that focuses on different characters within the same fictional universe, just at different time periods. It’s not a true limited series at all.
AHS also deserves to be kicked out of Limited too, especially with this crossover season (not that it didn’t have crossovers before).

TNT knew full well they were going to renew it when they submitted it as a Limited, and now they are pulling the “name change” excuse to pretend it’s a different show even though it’s got the same 3 leads in it.
Honestly, it deserves to have its nomination rescinded and given to the 6th place nominee (though it would be weird if that were Twin Peaks, because that show isn’t really a Limited either).
But, an Emmy spokesperson has already confirmed to Variety that the show is allowed to keep its nomination and is “locked in” for this year, so to speak. They will assess its placement for the new season when the time comes to submit.

I probably would have voted for her. This is actually an extremely, extremely weak line-up. One of the worst of the last decade, actually. And Spacek’s role is supporting, so she shouldn’t even be here.
I was more interested in the non-nominees that year. You could make a line up from snubbed actresses that is 10x better. Naomi Watt‘s performance in Mulholland Drive completely eclipses every single nominee here and then some.
We also had Charlotte Rampling‘s astonishing performance in Under the Sand. Tilda Swinton in The Deep End. Thora Birch in Ghost World. And i guess Audrey Tautou wouldn’t have been undeserving.
But you expect me to think that the nominated actreses were the five best? Nice try, Oscars.
ReplyMarch 20, 2014 at 5:02 pm #313382Oh, wow. I wonder if anything will actually materialize. If so, I’ll be looking forward to it. The first (and only) season was one of the best single seasons of the last decade, imo. And I can’t even remember who won that year, but Kudrow really should have won that Emmy instead.
HBO has done stuff like this before, without following through, so I’ll be keeping an eye on how this news develops.
ReplyOctober 15, 2013 at 4:42 am #304465It was very, very unfortunate that Jane Kaczmarek, who was consistently brilliant, never won, when they had SEVEN, opportunities to give her the award. Just further proof that these awards mean very little in terms of recognizing talent. Though, in hindsight, I do wonder if she would have won if she had submitted in supporting.
Malcolm in the Middle was a terrific series that deserved a Comedy Series win. The cast was uniformly excellent too. Bryan Cranston should have won best supporting actor at least once. I also think Frankie Muniz would have been a worthy lead actor winner; but at least he got nominated once, which is pretty rare for a young child actor….it’s cool that voters actually acknowledged him.
ReplyDecember 7, 2012 at 9:39 am #258321Isn’t it funny how when 30 Rock started it seemed so dominated by Liz/Jack/Tracy but for the last few seasons it’s been more Liz/Jack/Jenna? I feel like Tracy hasn’t really had good material in quite some time. Case in point: the Kenneth/Tracy C-plot this week seemed like filler.
I’m gonna sound like a broken record, but I can’t get over how great Jane Krakowski is on this show. I’m gonna miss seeing her on TV. Let’s hope she finds her next project ASAP.
Unless an even better showcase comes along, this is her submission tape should she get nominated (which she damn-well better be!!). She must have so much fun hogging all the fun lines! And I agree that it’s so great to see scenes with Liz and Jenna. Even though they’re best friends, I feel like they don’t get nearly as much screentime together as they should!
My faves lines/moments other than all the ones atypical already posted:
-Liz: “And did you know that Chuck Scarborough is anatomically a woman?”
Jenna: “…So I AM a lesbian.”-Jenna’s pronounciation of “Cameras”
-“lifetiime.com/garbagefile”
-All the women at the event going to the bathroom together. “I just went, but I guess I could go again!”
-Jenna as an old woman in the harsh lighting. Then limping away in shame.
-Paul: “It’s all right, the lack of oxgyen is making me orgasm.”
-“Don’t interrupt; the pill that lets me feel emotions is gonna wear off soon.”
-“What the H-E double vibrator is that thing on your left hand!”
