Finished this and I think they should push this in Drama. It’s not a comedy, although Cardellini kills the comedic moments. I don’t think the Emmys will touch this though. This seem more like Globes-fair.
Lyonne’s iconique wig is safe even if its submitted in Comedy (which its not)May 4, 2019 at 11:03 am #1202879877
I came back to predict Renee Zellweger for What/If, but she’s not in the prediction center? I think after the consensus 5, the 6th spot for Limited Series Actress is up in the air. Could she please be added?March 30, 2019 at 11:18 am #1202834549
Who here still watches Black-ish? I saw on its wiki page that Katt Williams has/had a guest role this season. Is he any good?March 30, 2019 at 11:11 am #1202834540

I really need this show to happe at the Emmys. I think what counts in its favour is that the Emmys seem to love shows about the Industry (Save for Empire). And Chris Kelly is a former nominee for Writing albeit in the Variety category.
Right now I have it in for
Half Hour Editing
Series and Lead Actor are probably wishful thinking on my part and I’ll probably take it out closer to nomsMarch 30, 2019 at 3:01 am #1202834262
No, I feel confident Madden will be fine at the Emmys. We have discussed that a BAFTA snub was coming for the past several weeks on this forum, so it wasn’t unexpected. Madden simply has become too popular (GG win, show broke all ratings records in the UK, very likely to get some big Hollywood role in the near future etc). It’s a ridiculous argument of course, but it is what it is. Kind of reminds me of Tom Hiddleston / The Night Manager situation a couple of years ago tbh.
His performance / the show is just too Hollywood action-laden, flashy and intense for the BAFTAs. Of course that’s exactly why I think Madden will win at the Emmys instead. That and what @braydenfitzsimmons wrote about the narrative and Rocketman being released in May. It will increase his profile even more.
I have Madden in at 6. Still skeptical tbh. I mean the show was a huge hit in the UK, but how was the US ratings? Also realistically what else except editing will the show get?March 29, 2019 at 8:02 am #1202833431
I’ve been purposely ignoring the forum because I wanted to give people a break from my rants. But I’m back to work on everyone’s last nerve, whew! I’ve been catching up on True Detective and I’m struggling to find a reason why Mahershala Ali will lose HIS emmy.March 29, 2019 at 7:58 am #1202833424
If that was like 3 years ago I would have done the same thing, but Rodriguez has been getting pretty bad press for her passive agressive hatred towards black women.
Why are people so confident in Bobby Cannavale? I mean he’s been doing the most lately — being on multiple shows and he couldn’t even get in with the baitiest of material. I LOVED Homecoming, but in no way would he be deserving. He was like 5th best and it’s a shame that the true standouts — James & Whigham — will likely be ignored by the Emmys.
I also think people are underestimating The Other Two. The Writing branch will likely nominate it (Chris Kelly is a former Emmy nominee for Writing) and they love Pilots. Drew Tarver is on the bubble — his category is weak as hell. Molly Shannon could get in because Supporting Actor has like 7-8 noms lately.
I’m hoping Wanda Sykes goes Supporting because it would be a shame to see her cancel herself with Black-ish.
