Imagine thinking Jhené will win AOTY before Beyoncé.
Well, BÉCK did…
November 25, 2020 at 8:31 pm #1203873949Dua Lipa’s album doesn’t fit the mold of AOTY winners. For me, I feel like the nom is her reward. She’s still a relatively new artist and I can’t see the Recording Academy wanting to reward her. I think her best shot at a GF win will be for Record of the Year.
As of right now, the award is Taylor’s to lose. That doesn’t mean that the race can’t change though…
If voters listen to albums by Jacob Collier or Black Pumas… or even the more mainstream HAIM, one of them could win.
Had Post Malone gotten into the Pop or Rock genre categories I would have said he had a chance, but he didn’t, so it looks like he won’t have enough support.
Jhene Aiko and Coldplay have no shot.
LMAO. Jhené is absolutely in this. Funny how people make baseless predictions that favour their faves out of fear for more talented people winning. Chilombo was a hit and many would describe it as Aiko’s magnum opus. She has a cult following. Passion votes could favour her here.
November 24, 2020 at 2:20 pm #1203867231These noms are fine. I don’t mind The Weeknd’s snubs, but BL deserved ROTY at the very least. Summer Walker’s snubs also hurt, but overall, Jhene saved the day.
Jhene used to be called the female The Weeknd, maybe voters avenge his snubs by voting for the female him..plus she is one of two? POC’s in AOTY and her album will cross 1M by next week, whew.
November 24, 2020 at 2:14 pm #1203867189i want to thank Abel for submitting to pop, for a clear win for CxH.
you mean AOTY nominee, Jhene Aiko.
November 24, 2020 at 1:07 pm #1203866716whew! Jhene did that! And she did it with the obstacle that votes without the accented e at the end won’t count. Clearly there’s passion for her. The most deserving nom of the day. I knew she was a lock for Progressive R&B..really need her to snatch a surprise AOTY too. Chilombo is a masterpiece!
November 24, 2020 at 10:28 am #1203864722People tried to tell me that Chloe x Halle were more likely in AOTY, meanwhile I had Jhene in my predix for months. An absolute Queen. So so deserving. Summer Walker was her biggest comp in Progressive R&B. With Summer in the dust Jhene is the clear frontrunner. Whewwww! Also Chilombo will cross 1M in sales in 2 weeks wheww

If there’s one artist who will benefit from passion votes, it’s her. She has slowly, but steadily build momentum to have a big breakout with the Grammys. I mean it’s criminal that Souled Out and Trip were totally shut out, but Sail Out did fairly well in 2014. Plus she had lots od visibility this year in terms of features with H.E.R, John Legend, Summer Walker, Kehlani, The Dream eatc.
October 4, 2020 at 3:16 am #1203758092If there’ll be a R&B nominee here it’ll most likely be either Jhené or Summer Walker, not Chloe x Halle
August 28, 2020 at 8:59 am #1203671899I agree, The Great fits the shows SAG usually go for, especially in Ensemble. But calling Hoult and Fanning A List film stars is a reach.
I think the only obstacle would be that Hulu hasn’t really done well at SAG, save for Handmaid’s and maybe The Act.
August 11, 2020 at 7:40 am #1203639728Lowkey Lost is a great submission for Orji, what are yall talking about?
ReplyAugust 11, 2020 at 7:29 am #1203639709I just finished Little Fires Everywhere and wow! I mean I didn’t like how they went for a melodramatic tone instead of going for a much darker I guess Sharp Objects esque tone (even though I usually like melodramas) but Reese and Kerry served! How on earth did Reese get snubbed for delivering one of the performances of the year?
I’m officially rooting for Kerry to get her dues at the Emmys this year (sorry Cate and Regina)!
Not happening, but I agree. Kerry delivered a career best. Queen of TV.
