I finally saw it the other day and honestly thought the same thing. I consider Parasite far and away better, however… I really wanted to love Shoplifters but it just couldn’t hold my attention. To be fair, I read the series and watched (maybe half-watched) the movie and it’s still pretty out-there, so it would only be able to get you so far.
I’m loving it so far. My only disappointment is that I’ve lost hope that they secretly cast Justin Theroux as Doctor Manhattan so we could see his giant blue wang.

Yes, with the competition involved (I do love Adam and Joaquin) I sadly feel that the Academy would slap that stud even though he was as fantastic here as he was in Good Time (which was more or less noticed by critics awards only). It does make me happy to see how close he’s come to breaking out of 100/1 odds though.
Rolling in the Deep or Someone Like You are probably the objective best. Subjectively I prefer Uptown Funk or Nice for What but Adele killed the singles game at the start of the decade.
