Anyways right now winner-wise I’m thinking
Series: Succession (The White Lotus: Sicily)
Actor: Bob Odenkirk (Jeremy Strong)
Actress: Melanie Lynskey (Bella Ramsey? Jennifer Coolidge if she goes lead?)
Supporting Actor: Matthew Macfadyen (Kieran Culkin? Jonathan Banks? no clue guys)
Supporting Actress: Jennifer Coolidge (Sarah Snook)
Writing: Succession (The White Lotus: Sicily)
Directing: The Last of Us (The White Lotus: Sicily)

tbh I think if you have Succession losing Writing, I’d just go all the way and predict The White Lotus to win Series. It stands a serious shot at sweeping the main guilds (atm it’s the frontrunner in each major guild it’s nominated in) and even if it doesn’t, it feels like the clear challenger regardless as long as it wins a guild besides WGA. Series + Writing + Supporting Actress makes a lot more sense than Series + Supporting Actor, especially since Succession’s writing is the first category the Emmys awarded it for.

Not sure if it’s going to be eligible, but I’ve had that song stuck in my head all day. It really is an earworm!
ReplyFebruary 1, 2023 at 5:18 am #1205279205I’m confident in doing Lynskey + Ramsey + Staunton and then having Lyonne, Cypress, and Lewis for the last 3 (will prob take one YJ lady out after S2 airs but atm I don’t know who people will think the standout is)

ReplyJanuary 30, 2023 at 6:13 pm #1205275371I liked Reboot, but I wasn’t really into it until the finale. It’s a shame that it’s not getting a second season since there was definitely potential, but it honestly makes sense why it isn’t for the reasons already mentioned above.
ReplyJanuary 29, 2023 at 8:00 pm #1205274179sooo I’m gonna need Nick Offerman to win the Emmy desperately, genuinely don’t know what could top that…
Murray Bartlett was also phenomenal, really hope he gets a nod!
ReplyJanuary 29, 2023 at 5:20 am #1205273295yeahh after watching the first 4 episodes I really don’t think it’s a comedy, although there are a couple of moments that made me laugh out loud. Peacock also lists it as a drama I’m pretty sure, so hopefully this does go drama! idk how the viewership of the show is, but Natasha Lyonne definitely deserves her flowers for her performance here, she’s SO good.
ReplyJanuary 25, 2023 at 11:26 am #1205266818A friend of mine who got a screener for this said it was definitely a comedy, but drama is honestly the weaker category at this point so they could just campaign it there.
January 20, 2023 at 7:02 am #1205254940Ooh, thank you both! Hoping this means that with the WGA, Fleishman’s in a good position to get a richly deserved writing nomination!

are there any notable snubs besides House of the Dragon? because I can’t really think of any other shows that could’ve gotten this but didn’t

Should/Will Win: Amanda SeyfriedJanuary 17, 2023 at 8:10 am #1205249301lol I’m dead. I have to say, I enjoyed the pilot but in a “Walking Dead” or even the Mandalorian kind of way, not in a “wow these performances are blowing my mind” kind of way (which actually HOTD was sometimes for me). Maybe that will change?
if I’m being honest I think I agree? Bella Ramsey is easily my MVP so far but like HOTD, I a) have no prior attachment to this franchise and b) am not immediately grabbed by the characters thus far. I still like this show’s technical feats a ton! it’s just so far not something I’m in love with
January 11, 2023 at 9:46 am #1205236516I really had hoped that Severance would have picked up a few awards by now. Nominations are definitely coming through but the Emmys and GGs were kinda flops for such a hyped show. And it’s not even a strong drama year.
I like most shows contending in drama at both awards shows (really just everything besides The Crown S5), but it’s a bit disappointing that it looks like Severance might walk away without any ATL wins at the winter precursors. Praying for a DGA win at least!
January 11, 2023 at 9:35 am #1205236438I like Selena and think she’s good on OMITB but she’s just not on the level of the other actresses contending. I don’t think I would check her off either, while I would nominated Martin and Short.
Same, I like her performance and was initially upset she got snubbed last year, but after watching her competition I just don’t think she’s as good as they are. (Although where I differ is that I’d only nominate Short)
