So pretty much I’m the only one who stick with Western Stars 😂

I think it will be nominated. This forum has a massive blind spot for anything that is not pop/r&b/rap so Western Stars is completely off the radar for GD posters.

I don’t get the Khalid hype in the slightest. The only Grammy I could see him nominated for is ROTY for “Talk” and that’s about it. His album came and went like a breeze.

I don’t know where the Khalid hype is coming from either. That Metacritic score of 58 for Better Spirit is atrocious. The closest he will come to AOTY is his television at home where he will be watching the ceremony.

There will definitely be at least one rock/alternative album nominated that is not from Billie Eilish. I think there is also a good chance at least one of Beyonce or Bruce Springsteen will be nominated. The large number of nominations in the category will ensure plenty of bases are covered.

It definitely doesn’t have support from the country industry seeing as it missed Single and Song of the Year nominations at the CMAs.

There is no way the CMAs would have nominated OTR or LNX for any significant category. The pop and rock music worlds might be accepting of an openly gay, black man but the country music world still lives in the mid-20th century at best. LNX and his song will not receive any/much support from the country community at the Grammys, either.

It is time to end this awards show. Once upon a time, this awards show was actually invested in rewarding quality work in music videos. Much like the abominable AMAs, this show is only focused on attracting performers to boost advertising revenue. Viewers and music fans should boycott this mess.

Tomorrow is being released a song for “Charlie’s Angels” movie with Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande and Lana del Rey. Probably will be a contender for Best Pop Duo/Gruop Perfomance.

When are they releasing the song? The movie does not arrive until the middle of November. It would be very unusual if the song was released before mid-to-late October which would put it after the current eligibility period.

Fam, streaming rules now. In that facet of the game, Lil Nas X us still smashing it. Panini and Rodeo are both streaming quite well.

The money in the music industry nowadays is made with merchandise and touring. If people aren’t willing to shell out $7 for his album/EP, they won’t be buying his memorabilia nor tickets to see him on stage. A huge number of streams may place him high on the charts but they don’t keep the lights on for long.

She just released the video for God Control. I’m not sure whether this video or the one for Dark Ballet will win the Grammy. Only one will (can?) be nominated but the other nominees are already also rans.

3-4K in sales is pathetic for an album or EP containing the biggest hit in the land for the past three months and counting. It certainly indicates how fickle his fans are and how short his career is likely to be once the Old Town Road fad finally dies. He might be able to hold on to a ROTY nom; but I’d say the Grammys are not going to show him much love at all, certainly no AOTY nomination. Will anybody admit to liking his music in six months?

One of either Madame X or Western Stars will receive an AOTY nomination. I’m not sure which but leaning toward Western Stars. There is a very, very slim chance both will be nominated but I think one of them will be nominated in this very weak year.

Are you really trashing Cabello for autotune when Mendes never sounds real either? He’s full autotune too just very subtly in this one.

After his voice seemed to crack on IICHY, he needed something like Senorita to keep the doubters at bay. The song is a nice piece of fluff for the summer and will likely stick around until school starts again. That being said, the video is ridiculous as they have no chemistry together. I’d certainly rather be a member of Camila’s marketing team than Shawn’s, as she seems to be settling in for a nice run as pop’s latest princess. I have no idea where he’s headed.

Granted, his entire success is dependent on streaming but Lil Nas X’s 7 EP is shaping up to be a failure as far as sales are concerned. Any slim chance he had for AOTY is now gone, I’d say. He might sneak in for ROTY but is that enough to guarantee a BNA nomination if he’s perceived to be a one hit wonder?

I’m surprised there is not more talk about Bruce Springsteen sliding into AOTY for Western Stars. It’s received some terrific reviews and he’s looking at a solid #2 debut for the album. He’s 72 and the Grammys might want to reward him with something approaching a career achievement award.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of Madonna’s and respect her so much, but just because its ‘experimental’ doesn’t mean its necessarily good. Some experiments fail as well. Let’s be objective here: there are some pretty good moments on the album and some pretty bad ones too. It’s her best release in a long while, but nothing really special in terms of the wider context of Pop.

I agree that not everything works on the album but I think more of it works than fails. It’s really a matter of personal preference. Does someone prefer more consistency so long as the music remains in an unchallenging, safe space or does someone prefer music that is more adventurous, even if there is a stumble or two along the way?

Amazing AMAZING album! So different from what other pop stars are bringing. For me:

Her best album since Confessions (might make my all time top 3)
Her most creative one since Music (Mirwais is a GOD!)
So much diversity, yet so cohesive at the same time
Best Songs: God Control, I Don’t Search I Find, Extreme Occident, Batuka.

This should be up for Best Pop Album without a doubt.

If the Grammys were awarded based on how daring, creative or unique a recording is, then Madame X would be a runaway winner this year. However, in reality, this album is very divisive and unorthodox. People claim they want and enjoy original works when nothing could be further from the truth. Billie Eilish is the “avant garde” album for most people this year, not Madame X.

Madonna has put out an album that would compel Bjork to say “WTF?” and the masses clamoring for something different have retreated to the safe confines of Ariana Grande and other radio friendly material. Pop music is a strange world indeed.

2019 Music Fan: When is someone going to release something fresh and inventive? Everything sounds so generic and indistinguishable nowadays.

Madonna: I have the perfect album for you!

2019 Music Fan: Why don’t people make music like I hear in the supermarket?

    ***

In all seriousness, Madame X is certainly a love it or hate it album that sounds nothing like anything else out there right now. If this is Madonna saying “F*** you, I will make the kind of music I want,” then I hope we don’t have to wait long for her next experiment as this one was very interesting.
