Some people think the reviews have been so savage because the author of the book is a conservative in real life so the reviews have a political bias.
Ah I get it now. Not knowing any of that, it’s not a bad movie. I felt for JD’s character throughout the whole thing. That last scene he had with his mother? So damn sad.
And the two actresses really looked like the people their characters are based on.

Where did she say this? Watched all of this and I would’ve voted for Montenegro too.

what was the political element of this film?
Anyway, Close is still getting nominated for this. Adams? Probably not, but this is definitely not Razzie worthy for me.

Get well soon, Wolfali!
Kinda late on this but Cotillard and Huppert got in for movies not nominated in Best Foreign Film. Loren can still happen if the Academy really wants her to happen.

Ok um… unpopular opinion, I guess.
Watching Hillbilly Elegy now… and I actually like these performances. Granted, I haven’t seen most (all?) of the other contenders anyway, but it’s not as bad as reviews make it seem.
EDIT: It was the first movie on my screen when I checked the app.

Today, I count any one-episode one-hour long film in streaming sites as a movie.
I’d just reiterate Behind the Candelabra and Game Change as my strong contenders.
I think Moore would even be competitive for a win.

Is it possible for all 5 nominees to be from chicago 7? Lol. Haven’t seen any of the other contenders but it’d be a whole new statistic if that happens.

…so basically, none since social media and the Internet became huge. That ruined any element of surprise since people can pretty much predict all sorts of scenarios.
Marina de Tavira’s nomination is the biggest shock I’ve ever had in a while.

Man, it doesn’t happen every single year the last decade but for most of them, there is always at least one performance not primarily in English. That’s why I’m thinking Loren is gonna make that cut. Power to her!

I’ll ask it here because the thread is about to close…
Does anyone know when the prediction center will open up the rest of the categories?

Just saw the Pieces of a Woman trailer. Gave me chills. Just going by the trailers, I’ll give Kirby the win. Can’t believe I gotta wait til January to watch the movie.
