March 4, 2021 at 5:29 pm #1204083639My favorite performance in Minari is Yeri Han, but basically, any acting nomination from that film will be well-deserved!

March 3, 2021 at 5:22 pm #1204081007Janelle Monae is really good in Antebellum. Sad that the movie was horrible.
Anyway, here’s my wishlist having seen most of the contenders…
Rosamund Pike, I Care a Lot
Vanessa Kirby, Pieces of a Woman
Frances McDormand, Nomadland
Andra Day, The United States vs. Billie Holiday
Carey Mulligan, Promising Young WomanMy actual Oscar guess for now: remove Pike and add Davis.

February 21, 2021 at 4:47 pm #1204053443Really hoping these movies become available for public viewing soon. I know “A Sun” and “Two of Us” are in Netflix and Prime respectively. But what else?

February 21, 2021 at 3:47 pm #1204053366I interpreted this as the worst Best Picture winners. Anyway, most of them are okay in their own right. Having watched them recently instead of when they first came out, I think movies like Unforgiven, The English Patient and No Country for Old Men are gorgeous-looking flicks that are really boring. I do have to agree with Jasmine is French–The Departed was an okay movie but definitely not the best movie.
Judging from all the BP winners I saw, the worst is Green Book simply because the story felt too fast, it was the most boring BP winner I saw, and it won over more worthy contenders.
There are definitely a few BP nominees though that I consider tremendously worse (aka “boring” which is the worst thing a movie can be for me) with no redeeming factor going for it like The Cider House Rules, Sideways, Up in the Air and Selma.
