In addition to Kidman, who’s pretty hungry to take her career the next level, I’m pretty confident that Blanchett will join the club sooner rather than later. She’s a highly respected theatre actress and she doesn’t necessarily need to be a lead in a mini-series. She could go supporting and be last year’s Laura Dern or simply agrees to appear on a hit show to win guest actress.
Laura Linney could very well win tripe crown as well in the future. I see her winning an Oscar eventually with the right role, such as Abigail Adams.

Instead of sending what was their actual best in the year, some countries try to interpret what the committee might react more favorably to and submit these very bad self-important or schmaltzy films instead of great ones. It’s still hard for me to accept that Brazil’s submission last year was a film other than Aquarius, which could’ve won it all.
People thought BPM was gonna easily sweep, yet it didn’t even make it to the short list. That category is really confusing sometimes. Or should I say a lot of times.

2.Dench.She adds such depth to the character. An endearing and moving performance.
3.Adams.The best thing in American Hustle, but yeah she wasn’t as much a lead as other four.
4.Bullock.It was nice, but the story and directing out-performed her.She was adequate enough.
5.Streep.Pretty much the worst performance I’ve ever seen from her.Uneven and fake from the first second to the last.
ReplyApril 5, 2014 at 9:18 am #149996[quote=”Jason_Travis”]I mentioned Paltrow in defense to how people react to Berry’s emotion- the latter was making HISTORY; she was stepping into some large shoes, and it was overwhelming. Everyone of course reacts to winning differently- I still find it fascinating to see Faye Dunaway’s cool and almost cold reaction when prevailing for Network (1976).
I remember Berry’s reaction was very real and honest.I mean, how can you not be?Deserved or not,she WAS and still IS the only african american woman to ever win in that category.
I lol’d when I saw her “omg, omg, omg” though,it was pretty hilarious.I don’t find Paltrow’s reaction was particularly fake or smug either, her speech was long(well,Cate’s speech was long, but I’ve never seen anyone complaining),but honest and quite humble.I think she understood that her performance wasn’t the strongest of the lineup(didn’t she also say she didn’t feel very deserving at their presence?),but anyway she still won,and that’s certainly something to be emotional about.
When it comes to fake speeches,Melissa Leo is always, and will always be,my No.1. McConaughey’s was quite annoying as well.
Oh and Steven McQueen,I remembered I went to pee when he was giving his speech. That guy was so into himself.Well I guess if you have to go you have to go. Personally I was so happy for McQueen. Odd thing is, I wasnt the hugest fan of his films up to this point.
But he was so delighted with his win. He jumped up and down. So spontaneous and energetic.
Er, why do you think he’s so “into himself” again?

Well that’s just how I feel about his speech and McQueen himself.April 3, 2014 at 9:46 pm #149984I mentioned Paltrow in defense to how people react to Berry’s emotion- the latter was making HISTORY; she was stepping into some large shoes, and it was overwhelming.
