Huhhh isn’t too early for this?! She literally have like 6 movies lol… She did nothing remarkable apart from Euphoria

star of the year is not supposed to award a remarkable career but popularity in the year of the award

cinemacon is one of the most important industry event, all the decision makers are there, the early showing of top gun in cinemacon and the long theatrical run it had shows the power

zendaya is on her way to become a movie star, it makes sense

You really think Jamie Lee, who was riding high and probably having an outer body experience of winning an Oscar, was focused on Angela Bassett? I think not. Its really not that serious, and its not something that Angela should be held to the fire for.

it doesnot matter if jamie focused on it or not, everyone else saw it, the internet saw it, it is important to show consideration for others

you are defending it because it is someone you like but if it were the other way around and angela had won and jamie lee curtis was the only person sitting during a standing ovation without clapping at any point and without even so much as a smile you would find it disrespectful towards bassett

if you watch the video you can clearly see that jamie lee curtis walks by angela bassett on her way to the stage

everybody is standing up and clapping but angela is sitting down and not clapping and that was about 30 seconds after the announcement so she had time to cool off and try to be nice

she was on the front row so jamie could see her the entire time, that is disrespectful

Angela shouldn’t be compared to Glenn Close. Losses or not, Glenn is a white woman in Hollywood who as been afforded way more opportunities in her career than Angela to even get nominated that many times for an Oscar (not taking away Glenn’s immense talent). Angela’s loss has a bit more sting to it as a black woman. Besides that……why is her reaction still even being discussed at length? Yall act like there was a shot of her rolling or eyes or something.

beyonce lost album of the year four times but is still polite enough to applaud all winners no matter how disappointed she is
angela has been in conversation with jamie lee curtis several times the last few months and show respect for the work of other people is good sportsmanship

she had no reason to expect to win after losing bafta or sag so the least she could do is show that she is not self entitled and fake a smile for the professional colleague who has been working for as long as she has

danielle deadwyler reaction to losing the sag was similar, glad it wasnot at the oscar because it would have killed her chances too

Off topic but Audrey was so much better than Julia.

julie played eliza doolittle in broadway and was nominated for a tony for it

when the play was adapted she was expected to get the role but when she did not there was pitty for her

they loved the story that she lost the role but won for another, that is why she won

I know it’s a stupid stat but I don’t recall any person winning for a remake when the original performer didn’t for the same role. Troy Kotsur might be the exception but the original actor wasn’t nominated, so it counts?

wendy hiller lost for playing eliza doolittle in 1938 and audrey hepburn won in 1964

my fair lady is adapted from pygmalion too just changed the title

if the original actor does not have to be nominated than there are many anne hathaway, ingrid bergman, charlton heston

So, apparently there is a rumor that Tarantino wants Blanchett for his new movie. I read this on Jordan Ruimy’s website so I am not exactly sure about validity of the claims, but oh boy, would that be a glorious collaboration. Regardless of whether this is true or not, I do admit this would be interesting. I think Tarantino would be able to draw out a complete new animal out of Cate which would be truly glorious to see. I don’t want to raise my hopes, but too late…

that is why her win or not for tar made no difference to her or anyone else

she already has the career and will come back in one or two years with films by great directors where everyone says it is her best performance again

she will win the third one sooner or later everyone knows but michelle yeoh will never be in this conversation again

Let’s not forget that BAFTA didn’t give a single film award to a non-white person this year – above OR below the line (the only person they awarded from EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE was, conveniently, the white editor) – so I don’t think they really know what “diversity” is https://t.co/TN3g4V28fk
