Im starting to think Late night gets into original screenplay. Summer comedies tend to get a writing nomination (The big sick comes to mind, its also from amazon). It has no chance of winning(once upon a time in hollywood has the award all locked up), but a nomination wont be too far fetched.June 15, 2019 at 6:00 pm #1202939816
I dont think harriet is gonna win picture or director(I think it will be at least nominated), But right now im confident in Erivo winning actress. Im curious to see if my answer will change in a few months.
Is netflix even gonna push the pope? Im getting really concerned that we havnt even heard anything about their award movies yet.June 14, 2019 at 6:24 am #1202937461
I do not expect OUATIH to go Drama, though we never know. In the trailers, we can clearly perceive the tone of the movie, which is very much comedic. DiCaprio does not care to go C/M, he did in 2014 and would have won an Oscar had not McConaughey played it that like Sandra Bullock. The film has basically no advantages to go Drama at the GG. The HFPA will not give Leo the Drama Globe actor and we all know he is not winning the Oscar whatsoever. Robbie and Pitt are going supporting, so it doesn’t matter the field, Tarantino is getting in anyway in BD. They will likely stay in C/M and it is even better for the campaign.
The only reason why I think it might go drama is because tarintino’s recent work has been in drama. But I do agree with you, The movie has no reason to go to drama. Comedy actor actor alone is so empty, besides dicaprio and egerton. Dicaprio would have a very easy win in comedy actor, while in drama actor he will have no chance. Its up to the studios to submitt where each movie goes. Lets hope sony does the right thing.June 14, 2019 at 3:44 am #1202937229
The winner of the Drama Golden Globe is almost certain to be the winner of the Oscar. That has been the case from 2012 onwards, with Clooney taking the Globe in 2011 and Dujardin winning. However, since 2011, every winner of the Comedy / Musical Golden Globe has secured a nomination. If Egerton beats out DiCaprio, he could snag a nomination. Then again, Colman (obviously an actress) just won with the Comedy / Musical Globe and the BAFTA. Considering Egerton has potential to get nominated and possibly win in both award shows, I don’t think we can rule him out until much later. I don’t expect a win, but an Oscar nom is plausible.
The only way egerton wins the comedy globe is if once upon a time in hollywood goes drama (which is possible). And not every globe winner translate to oscar nominations. The most recent example is amy adams who won the comedy globe in 2015 for big eyes (That was a weird year in terms of award nominations), but she never went on to a oscar nomination.June 13, 2019 at 6:19 pm #1202936745
The kitchen looks like a commercial play I really don’t see an awards run being a possibility (but I may be proved wrong). Dever/Feldstein aren’t going to win.
Oh, I just listing possible nominees with johansson, Dever-Feldstein would have better chances if booksmart was released in fall. The kitchen is defineitly a commercial play but I could see in the globes loving it though.
Is The Kitchen really considered a Comedy?
I heard its a dramady so who knows? Right now im counting it as a comedy.June 13, 2019 at 5:18 pm #1202936698
I wouldn’t be surprised if both Judy/Fair and Balanced went Drama. Then her biggest competition would probably Emma Thompson (Late Night), Jennifer Hudson/Taylor Swift (Cats), and Cate Blanchett (Bernadette?).
Melissa mccarthy from the kitchen and Dever-Feldstein from booksmart has a good chance as well.June 13, 2019 at 5:10 pm #1202936687
Where is the irishman’s trailer? We heard about a fall release date during the oscars, But nothing else after that. In fact, we havent heard much about netflix’s other movies(The last thing he wanted, The larndromat, The pope). Heck, we dont even have a title for the Noah baumback movie. Netflix might be doomed this award season.June 13, 2019 at 4:28 pm #1202936645
Could Awkwafina win the Comedy Globe? Is there any other top 10 actress contender who could arguably be placed in the comedy categories? Lupita?
Renee zellweger from judy? If they put Judy in comedy, There is zero doubts in my mind that she would win. If both Judy and the Farewell goes drama, One of the ladies from the kitchen will win.June 13, 2019 at 3:15 pm #1202936543
Current winner predictions
Best actress limited series: Helen mirren (catherine the great)
Best actor limited series: Russell crowe (the loudest voice in the room)
Best limited series: Chernobyl
Best actress musical or comedy: Either Gwyneth paltrow or Jessica lange for the politician (depending on where each one goes)
Best actor musical or comedy: Ben platt (the politician)
Best tv series musical or comedy: The politician
Best actress drama: Either Octavia spencer for truth be told or Olivia colman for the crown (Im leading towards Spencer. The first globe that netflix won was drama actress, that was Wright for the first season of House of Cards. History might repeat itself. But Colman is still a force to reckon with)
Best actor drama: IDK (maybe Jeremy irons from watchmen)
Best tv series drama: Big little lies
Best supporting actress: Meryl streep (big little lies)
Best supporting actor: Lin maneal miranda (his dark materials)June 13, 2019 at 3:50 am #1202935555
1) Atlanta won’t even air this year
2) There is no Comedy/Musical category
3. These predictions are, for the most part, the worst.
Tv wise, Sag is my worst when it comes to predicting. I feel much more confortable predicting the golden globes than the sag awards.June 12, 2019 at 3:44 pm #1202935109

Is her performance being raved about? I know being mute doesn’t make it impossible to get a nomination, I just was under the impression she didn’t have much to work with in general in terms of screen time, lines, material, etc. I know it’s a huge movie and she’s very popular, I just was curious why she is being unanimously predicted. I’m rooting for her FYI, just was nervous after reading some of those reviews.
Its a movie about old hollwood. The globes tend to go crazy for movies like these. Its one of those cases that a movie is so loved, Actors are taken for the ride that you dont expect(Like de trvia in roma Or rockwell from vice for example)June 10, 2019 at 10:50 am #1202931207
I just finnished the first episode and streep is amazing. She definently earned the mountain of awards she will get next year. Kidman and Witherspoon are excellent. Cant wait for the rest of the season.
