OMG, we could read the names of everybody and not just the actors.
March 12, 2023 at 7:55 pm #1205348208Film Editing: EEAAO or TG: M?
I am beginning to think TG since the sound/editing stat
March 12, 2023 at 7:54 pm #1205348179All quiet wins production design but lose sound?
March 12, 2023 at 7:43 pm #1205347998So EEAAO won best picture.
March 12, 2023 at 7:41 pm #1205347967Banshees is going home empty handed, so sad…
March 11, 2023 at 3:06 pm #1205343225He’s great in the singing and performing part of Elvis, average as Elvis the person. But they also don’t give him much character depth being from Tom Hank’s POV
Yeah, but to me that is a big problem. Acting is becoming a character, but if the character isn’t on the screen, what is the actor actually doing? I may be harsh but I don’t think it is going to be a particularly deserved win
ReplyMarch 11, 2023 at 3:04 pm #1205343214I agree. He’s surely done a great work on impersonification and mimesis, but I got zero emotions from him. Like in the break-up scene, he’s almost inexpressive. I simply don’t think he has this much of a range, as of now. So I vastly prefer Fraser, Mescal, Nighy and Farrell.
That’s 100% were I am. I mean he was a good impersonator, but he was just directed to do faces and moves because there is no acting, no performance simply because there is no character. And I have to clarify, this is not Butler’s fault, but Luhrmann’s,both for the screenplay and the direction.
ReplyMarch 11, 2023 at 2:02 pm #1205343099Honest question: how do you feel about Butler’s performance? Am I the only one here who actually has it #5 (not on prediction, but on my personal preference) ?
ReplyMarch 11, 2023 at 12:23 pm #1205343020It’s my fault for putting money on Butler lol
Did you really bet on the favorite to win?
ReplyMarch 11, 2023 at 9:09 am #1205342846So, if we eliminate any other film, EEAAO has 21 #1 ballots and AQOTWF has 9, possibly 10.
ReplyMarch 11, 2023 at 8:54 am #1205342839Oh boy is she really coming?
I think she is. I can see European voter divided between her and Condon, while american more divided between her and Bassett. She is inn anyway and so I think it is going in her favor. I wouldn’t be mad since I bet money on it, lol
ReplyMarch 11, 2023 at 8:23 am #1205342803If even people who hate EEAAO are voting JLC that means she is STRONG
ReplyMarch 10, 2023 at 9:46 am #1205341673Will we get more ballots today? With what we have received till now, I am now confident with Daniels and Quan winning their respective categories. The rest can go either ways as per the ballots. Supporting Actress is a headache.
Maybe a brutally honest considering we have just one, and I think indiewire too, they usually go for one article per day till Saturday.
ReplyMarch 9, 2023 at 2:41 pm #1205340465Fortunately, voters are starting to see through Blanchett’s one-note shtick. It’ll be glorious when Yeoh’s sincere and heartfelt performance wins over that extremely overrated performance.
OMG. Not every character is supposed to be likeable, Lydia Tar is not likable or warm or heartfelt.
