Industry might surprise at the Golden Globes, and get nominations in best drama, best actress and best supporting actor (Ken Russell), all depending if HFPA members watched the second season.

I feel like the won’t be the only solo actress nominee,  when the nominations  announced it will be the actresses  with films that have multiple nominations. The have been highly criticality acclaimed films lead by actresses , Halle Berry film feels like a solo nomination film as the reviews seems mild.

I have a strong feeling that Squid Game will win the ensemble award, it is the only show that I have seen numerous actors talk about or dress up. I know succession is the more critically acclaimed show, but where is the enthusiasm from the industry.

It would be safe to say that Squid Game has more viewers than Sucession. The show has more Imdb ratings and is currently the number 1 show on IMDB. The fact it got an SNL spoof for a Korean show is a big achievement

Netflix should submit Zendaya in supporting actress category, I think she would have better chance of getting a nomination in that category. I keep saying that the reason The Prom could do well is because it is heartwarming story musical with humor , which will make it stand out from the rest of the Oscar potential films, which are very serious so that could improve Meryl chances of a nomination. Also the Biden victory factor.

The thing about the film that makes it standout from the rest of award season films , is that it doesn’t take it self seriously, I mean look at the top 10 leading films for best picture, all of them deal with serious, dark topics. Watching the trailer actually put a smile on my face,it has an element of escapism. I know that is a long shot with the Oscars, with possible nominations, but after how depressing 2020 has been maybe the Academy will appreciate the feel good energy the film portrays. And Ryan Murphy did not write the adaptation for film, projects that he has not written, just produced or directed, have all them gotten great reviews.

I think it could get a nomination for Jim Parsons at the Golden Globes, in lead comedy actor.

I think a lot of people are underestimating The Prom, especially Nicole Kidman in supporting actress and with Netflix backing it, it could have a strong showing next year at the Oscar . I don’t think the Academy is going to be rewarding West side story as it already has and with  In heights also in competition , only one out of the three will be embraced by the Academy
