I think maybe we have way too many nominees with ten in each general field category!! Maybe if we can scale back to 7 or 8? The votes are being spread too thin with ten allowing upsets to happen or wins go to the artist who appeals to the broadest spectrum of genres and voter appeal, not necessarily because that was the best recording. All the winners are deserving, but the results don’t make as much sense when you can lose your genre award but still win the highest prize…

Adele fatigue will lead to a Beyonce win!!! Or the two will cancel each other out paving the way for Kendrick Lamar or Harry Styles….
ReplyNovember 18, 2022 at 2:43 pm #1205159614I think that now that Song of the Year category has 10 nominees, it’s time to think about adding a Best Pop Song category. I think in the past (early 90s, 80s etc) the general field nominees were usually 5 pop recordings. So Song of the Year and Pop song would’ve been basically the same category. Now with ten nominees, it can’t be the same nominees in both categories. I think every year a song or two only gets nominated in Song of the Year because there is no Pop song category to honor and nominate these well crafted pop songs.

Plus it would be a way to appease the older Grammy voters while still rewarding one of today’s biggest artists?
November 24, 2021 at 5:22 am #1204603018The more I look over the nominees, the more I think Lady Gaga and Tony Bennet are possibly going to sweep 3/4 of the big four. They are such a safe bet and I think giving 95 year old Bennet on last night of Grammy glory will seem very tempting…
