I’m here to see Bad Bunny beat Harry. While he makes 15 nights in the garden, Bad Bunny fills stadiums without strength and has the best-selling album of the year.
This Bad Bunny vs Harry beef is literally just in your heads.
They’re both ginormous right now and they’re not at odds with one another in any kind of way. They have completely different sounds and completely different audiences. They’re BOTH huge in terms of touring right now as well. Bad Bunny is NOT selling more tickets than Harry. Harry sold 719,000 tickets for the first leg of the US tour, and is selling 800,000 more for the current one, both legs are in one calendar year. It’s rumored that he’ll be adding stadiums as well, which makes sense considering he sold out Wembley 4 times for next year (among others, like the Stade de France twice).
In terms of the Grammys, the only category Bad Bunny could beat Harry in is AOTY, he doesn’t have any big songs to compete in ROTY or SOTY and he’s not gonna be placed in pop. And while I think UVST should be an AOTY candidate I think we can all agree that it’s unlikely given its language and sound. Plus, I think everyone here agrees that Renaissance, Mr. Morale, and Silk Sonic are ahead of Harry’s House for AOTY, not to mention 30. So UVST wouldn’t be beating Harry’s House, it’d be beating those other albums. An AOTY nom would be reward enough for HsH.September 27, 2022 at 6:33 am #1205099526
I’m sorry, but there are plenty of articles that have pointed out the “Take on Me” similarities in “As It Was.” So, no. My comprehension is NOT “shallow.” And you can SCOOT with this long ass essay. I do not care.
Oh no, not ARTICLES. Music analysts have said they’re not alike, but if ARTICLES say so then it MUST be true!
If you do not care then you do not talk about it. Rule number 1 of not caring.
I’ll make it simple for you, no essays: 7/10 songs in the “most weeks at number 1” territory won Grammys. Two out of the remaining three were in Spanish, the third one was an absolute anomaly that lost to a beast of a song.September 26, 2022 at 7:40 pm #1205099241
“As It Was” is very competitive for a few Grammys, but posting its stats to “prove” that it deserves the awards when “Despacito,” “Old Town Road” and “One Sweet Day” failed to win in the general field is funny. Only “Old Town Road” managed to win genre awards, but it still couldn’t overtake a one-week #1 in ROTY. And we gotta stop acting like a “Take on Me” redux is something innovative.
If synthesizer = Take On Me for you, then your comprehension of music is overly shallow. The chords, the structure, literally every other instrument, the themes (lyrics + ambiance), there’s no other point of comparison
Also, whether you like it or not, As It Was is a better song and more Grammy friendly than Old Town Road and Despacito combined, you legit can’t compare (and Old Town Road did win anyway)…
One Sweet Day lost to Kiss From A Rose in ROTY, one of music history’s most iconic songs. The pop loss was a bit more of a WTF, but probably more to do with the fact that it was placed in pop when the song consisted of black artists, Boyz II Men in particular was never placed in pop aside from this song, and while Mariah was and had won 1 pop award prior to it, she also lost another 6 pop nominations prior to that ceremony, including for Hero. She would go on to win 3 more Grammys in her career, all of them in R&B.
6 out of the 7 songs As It Was surpassed this week, (all of them except La Macarena), won Grammys, two of them won ROTY.
If you’re gonna bring up old stats to try and support an argument, don’t cut them off and put them out of context.
Harry will most likely lose because he’s against Adele. If he wasn’t against Adele, he’d most likely win. Be for real now, you KNOW it’s true.September 26, 2022 at 5:01 pm #1205099079
Harry Styles‘ “As It Was” logs a 15th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. Only three songs have led longer over the survey’s 64-year history, while “As It Was” claims outright the longest reign for a song by a British artist, as well as by an act with no accompanying artists. “As It Was” now solely boasts the fourth-longest reign in the Hot 100’s history, dating to the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, inception. It has achieved the longest command since Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus (also on Columbia), ruled for a record 19 weeks in 2019. – Billboard But Adele will still win, right? Because she’s Adele. No other reason at this point. Easy on Me is just another soppy piano ballad whereas As It Was at least references the pandemic.
As someone who’s up Harry’s ass: yes, she’ll most likely win. Better come to terms with it.September 25, 2022 at 9:44 am #1205097718
That’s why Billboard is changing the rules again. End of time
Billboard is gonna trade Nielsen numbers for Mediabase numbers on radio. That means radio will have a bigger audience, not less. I’m not sure what makes you think Billboard’s changes have anything to do with Harry’s reign at the top, if anything they guarantee that more songs have more weeks at the top, curiously enough most of As It Was weeks were powered exclusively by streaming and if it had been for radio he would’ve been #2 (About Damn Time had a lot of bigger radio weeks than As It Was), but a lot of people aren’t ready for the conversation that As It Was is where it is thanks to merit…September 22, 2022 at 8:28 pm #1205095236
He’s not listed as a performer on Spotify, but he’s listed as (sole) writer and producer. It’s not released in my country yet but apparently it’s just a lullaby and Harry doesn’t sing lead vocals in it, just background.
Quoting myself to say, having listened to the song, it’s barely a song and I don’t believe it’ll be nominated to anything. It’s just supposed to be an eerie song for the movie. It has two sentences repeated over and over and a short melody on piano.September 22, 2022 at 6:29 pm #1205095167
this might be a good indicator how they feel about him also regarding a potential win. if he gets these two noms as well, we know they really like him.

Y’all are so unhinged. I hope ADELE sweeps just for the gags and meltdowns.
Girl, she will. No need to hope.
And I promise you that while very young fans will say that it’s unfair or whatever (and atp I think it is), most fans will just say “duh it’s Adele, his fault for releasing during her season” and move on. I fear you’re gonna be gagless and meltdownless, especially if what you’re expecting is BTS level of meltdownSeptember 20, 2022 at 6:43 pm #1205092205
Girl, you’re a very troublesome person. Not everything is about you. If I chose to reply someone’s post to progress an entirely unrelated topic, don’t be too dense to not tell the difference. You obviously just want to argue with @Munchi, well reply him and leave me out of your drama. Btw, he sent me a note to suggest removing the last couple of posts to let the discussion die and not appear rude to anyone. You on the other hand are always seeking his reaction, validation and attention. His post does not even disagree with you, only attempts to find a middle ground. But you’re too troublesome to even notice. Jheeze, you do too much. Either way, leave me alone and take it up with him, please.
Weird ass assumptions thrown around. I wanted to reply to you, so I replied to you.
I actually am cackling at this idea that I’m seeking validation or anything else from anyone in this forum because I do not remember who any of you are other than Boz and Gucci (who I muted in 2020 when I first registered). I legit have no recollection of who any of you are. I sparsely remember two users who have been positive towards Harry because of course I notice that, but I couldn’t even name their full usernames (I think one of them starts with Haim), but this in fighting y’all have going on is completely ridiculous for me and I don’t engage in it. I quoted you because you were in the last page. Everything else is literally your imagination. And perhaps a little projection.September 20, 2022 at 10:59 am #1205091615
And Gays. Why does no one try to abolish religion?
The strawman is so strong with y’all jfc
All I said is “don’t act like an artist from Spain is the same as an artist from Latin America” and now y’all are writing essays about the Ottoman empire and the crusades, like y’all gotta be freaking kidding me
And for the record, abolish religion, go for itSeptember 19, 2022 at 7:36 pm #1205090787
This is the second time I pay close attention to the Grammys, I’m still very green on a lot of things (more confident in others thankfully lol), who do you guys see as nominees in POTY? Greg Kurstin winning is kind of a given, but nominees?September 19, 2022 at 2:41 pm #1205090517
“As It Was” is now tied for the third most weeks at #1 ever and the most weeks at #1 overall for a solo song. Just for fun, thought it be good to look at the longest running #1s and their grammy history. Longest running #1s 19 weeks [Start of panels] Lil Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus – “Old Town Road” (ROTY nom + 2 genre wins) 16 weeks [Start of panels] Mariah Carey & Boys II Men – “One Sweet Day” (ROTY nom + 1 genre nomination) Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber – “Despacito” (ROTY & SOTY noms + 1 genre nomination) 14 weeks Whitney Houston – “I Will Always Love You” (ROTY win + 1 genre win) Boyz II Men – “I’ll Make Love To You” (ROTY nom + 1 genre win) Los del Río – “Macarena” [Start of panels] Elton John – “Candle In the Wind 1997” (1 genre win) Mariah Carey – “We Belong Together” (ROTY & SOTY noms + 2 genre wins) The Black Eyed Peas – “I Gotta Feeling” (ROTY nom + 1 genre win) Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars – “Uptown Funk!” (ROTY win + 1 genre win)
So nominations all over are a lock and a win isn’t out of the question? The bad luck this man has to release a record breaking song at the same time as Adele’s comeback. The worst part is that he fully knew, so it’s not even technically bad luck, just… not caring I guess.September 19, 2022 at 2:37 pm #1205090511
Latin America is called like that because it is the part of the continent that speaks a Latin language. That is true. And it is that way because Spain colonized the countries and forced the language. Now, latinidad is now a cultural aspect and an ethnicity that Spain does not share. The calling of contemporary spaniards colonizers is nonsensical though. And I think there is something really beautiful in sharing cultures if done respectfully.
I’m not calling Rosalia a colonizer, I’m saying that she benefits from being part of a first world country, a country that oppressed our third world continent for literal centuries, and that calling her Latina or giving her Latin awards or acting like her receiving a nomination and Bad Bunny receiving one would be “the same” because they both speak in Spanish is ridiculous and a slap in the face. I have nothing against Rosalia and I don’t blame her for things that happened in the 1500s, but I’m also not gonna act like it didn’t happen or that people who grew up in Spain as opposed to Puerto Rico don’t have an INSANE advantage in life.
The cherry on top is that they don’t even sound like they’re speaking the same language (Catalan aside) 🤪September 19, 2022 at 10:13 am #1205090101
I agree that it would be sort of a slap in the face to nominate Rosalía and not Bad Bunny, especially considering Motomami is quite literally taking most of its elements from Latin music and with all the cultural appropiation accusations Rosalía gets (Rosalía is not Latin, for those who don’t know). I would love to see both, but if only one can make it in, it should be Bad Bunny. And that’s coming from a hardcore Rosalía stan since 2018.
Thank you for saying this in far better words than I could’ve.September 19, 2022 at 7:19 am #1205089819
what are you even saying… All I want is a spanish-speaking album in AOTY lol.
I’m saying I’m Chilean and seeing people compare A SPANISH act to a Puerto Rican act just because they speak (very different versions of) the same language is ridiculous and I’m low key tired of Rosalia being lumped in with other Latin artists when she’s a white EUROPEAN woman who greatly benefits from the culture of oppression her home country had on our entire continent for hundreds of years. Not now
